Yep. Pretty scarce, though.
Could you mine a rack for me?
Not a chance. I doubt there is an entire rack still in the casino's possession.
Seems they are live chips.
Correct.
I think they realized their error of putting out THC inlaid quarters at this casino shortly after opening, and quickly switched to ceramics. I doubt these were on the tables for even a year, though I could be wrong.
I don't think the casino ordered very many clay quarters -- maybe three racks total; maybe just two. Not sure when they were first introduced -- I suspect it was well after the casino opened, maybe 2010? (the ceramics were introduced in mid-2008 when the casino opened). The clay quarters were still on the tables as of 2014 or so. However, there weren't very many, and they wouldn't even put them in play. The dealer wanted to pay me in real US coin quarters at the Pai Gow table until I pitched a fit to the pit boss. Walked out four hours later -- and $357 poorer -- with all 37 chips they had at the table. The other Pai Gow table had none, and only ceramics were on every other game table I checked out. Afaik, they don't have any clay quarters left at all -- Elvis has left the building.
I spent a year scouring
eBay and thechipboard for these. Net result, one chip.
I don't think I've ever seen one for sale.
There’s definitely some racks out there, but I think you’d have to pry them from cold dead fingers.
I think I'm 17 chips short of two racks total, and I don't know of anybody else that has more than one or two chips total. I got most of mine from
@courage who had harvested the casino hard back in 2011 or so. And as a native Hoosier, I don't plan on ever letting them go.
That or make them an offer that can’t be refused.
It would have to be quite an offer.
So you're saying there's a chance?
Realistically, probably not.
Yes, Timmy has a chance. Save your pennies and when a rack of these comes up for $450, pony up and pay your rental fee!
Sorry folks -- my chips are already spoken for, if/when I ever decide to sell (and chances are pretty high that
@PokerChipWidow will be selling them after I'm dead and gone). As far as pricing goes, I expect they'd hit $10/chip in an open auction, maybe more.
