I have two $5 chips and prefer the red ones for cash with NL 1/4 pie $1s. The cash set isn't playable yet, so I could use the red $5s in the tourney set for now, but let's assume it's better never to mix these around and that my cash set is currently playable.
This would be my proposed tourney set lineup:
I really like the orange $5s with the Fitz, but since there are two orange chips it's not quite ideal. At first I figured I'd have to keep this to a 3 denom single table set, but after hearing one of my friends tell me that my GCOP T100 and T5000 chips looked identical to him, these orange chips would have to be easier for him to identify. Different spot patterns at least!
If needing to keep this to a 3 denom set maybe it would be easier to start with T1000 stacks and a twice as long as the rest 5/5 first blind level. I could already run a single table T2000 tourney with the following chips:
100 x T5s
100 x T25s
100 x T100s
20 x T500s
I've already seen another suggested starting stack that would include only 3 denoms even with T2000 stacks. The only problem is it would cost me several hundred dollars more in chips to pull off.
Going with a T1 base set would probably be a lot cheaper... not that I would have many options other than the NL $1s. Even with the chip design tool I'm not sure what I would choose.
