I think the damn post office just screwed me. I just packed 5 chips up nicely in a regular envelope, and I asked for the cheapest way to ship them with a tracking number, and I got charged $6.65.
How can this be the cheapest? I buy chips on eBay that are shipped for much cheaper than that.

Doesnt a first class envelope up to 1oz cost 49c? I think all USPS first class mail now comes with tracking included no?

5 chips = ~1.8 ouces so you probably got screwed. Cant remember what first class mail padded envelopes cost to ship but I think it should be like $1-$1.50 or something?

Try the calculator on their site and punch in the zip codes.

You can print first class postage with tracking (through paypal) for around $2.50 for a padded envelope (depending on the exact weight).

A 1 to 3 oz 1st class mail padded envelope is now currently $2.61 w/a printed label & free tracking ... a bit more if you go over 3 oz ...
The price you were quoted was for Priority Mail, unnecessary for this weight, & they should have given you the 1st class option at the Post Office...

I shipped two chips in a padded envelope today for .70... most often when doing 5-7 it's in the $2.50 range. They probably rang them up as Priority.

(Not that there's anything wrong with that)
(Office Space reference)
(And Seinfeld reference, of course)
(I need a drink)
