Hi,
after a discussion with the fellow chipper @mikfin we found out that the duties and taxes fot importing chips from outside the EU change drammatically from different EU member states. For example here in italy i paid 5-15€ everytime i purchased chips from abroad for the value of 3-400€ each time while in belgium the taxes are 21% of the value of the product.

We were curious to know how much you guys pay in your EU member state.

When receiving chips from the USA to Canada I often ask sellers (if willing) to drop the appraised price to $49.99 or less. My gov't is not fincially responsible so don't want to give them a cent more than I am forced to. Staying under $50 seems to skirt under the customs radar with packages arriving mostly with no duties at all.

Some say you risk losing your investment in insurance....crossing borders revoked most of the insurance coverage on shipped goods (or it's expensive). USPS to Canada is pretty reliable and the cheapest option. All of the other carrier result in higher/later or other fees added so far in my experience.
