I've been going down the rabbit hole of customer poker chips for a little bit now and I'm getting to the point where I think I'm ready for some cpc samples. I was wondering if getting an inlaid sample should be a priority or if just getting the blank sample set from cpc should be good enough to get a feel for the molds. If I find a mold I love without an inlay does getting it with the inlay have the potential to completely change that?

Personally I don’t think your opinion would change that much. The weight and texture will be the same. The base colors the same. The only difference the inlay would make is the look, of well, the inlay and that would be completely dependent on your specific design.

All of that said, CPC is a big ticket purchase in terms of both time and money so if you have any doubts get an inlaid sample set.

If your between two or three options, it would be a good idea to get shuffle stacks to see how you like the feel

Not really... depending on the mould, inlay texture can vary from chip to chip. I can't speak for all moulds but, of the moulds with textured inlays, I've handled inlaid samples of A-Crest, Circle Square, Diamond Square, H-Mold, Jockey, Scroll and recently Ewing, and the inlay texture within each mould varied from chip to chip. Unless one is considering hot stamps, I highly recommend getting inlaid samples over plain samples.
