I'm nearing the end of my poker table, just need to put on led lights. But I didn't do cup holders in the railing and now kind of wish I did. Is it possible to install them now, without taking apart all the vinyl and foam and unscrewing all the wood? Like if I cut through the vinyl and foam with a knife and then cut through two layers of wood at the same time with hole drill, I'm thinking it should work. Or am I risking destroying the rail?

Hard to say without seeing your table.

I installed mine after the fact... I turned the table over and bored through both the rail and the playing surface with a hole saw. Once the holes were cut, I turned it over and cut the vinyl so I could drop a stainless steel cupholder in.

I actually like the idea of drilling from the bottom up. Then if I mess something up drilling, at least the vinyl and foam aren't damaged.

Have you thought about drink carts instead?
I think a drink cart would be too big to install into a poker railing, kidding. Hmm, interesting idea. But I think that would take up more floor space than I'd like, especially during non-poker times.

They also make ones that slide under the rail if that is an option with how you're constructing it.

To join in the are you sure you want to do that, there are alternatives crowd I didn't want cup-holders in my rail, or the table and didn't really have room for drinks carts so went with this.

Works really well and a year and a half on and no spills.

Had to many drinks spilled on my old table. So, I put mine under the rail with ¹/4-20 thumb screws and t-nuts. Drilled from the top side. Install 30 t-nuts and counter sink them with forstner bit. That way you can move them anywhere around the table you want.

That’s a really nice design. Looks like those are custom cut.
