good luck? they are clay??Already all over them thanks to Dr Strange and Psypher. Messaged seller but she has only these. Hopefully won't be much of a bidding war...
I know..."Clay". They're the same traditional material as most crest and seal chips.
Damn, I've been watching this listing too. Obviously I won't turn it into a bidding war though, I'm not married to them. But can you guys help me out with some info on this style of chip - who made these ones in particular? Bud Jones? I love this old style and I've been trying to find a decent quantity for a playable set. What's the general consensus/rundown on this plain/monogrammed solids? I can't find much info.
Check out these three threads for more information on these and similar chips. I just recently picked some up as you'll see in one of those threads. I'm primarily interested in the auction for the white chips, but it's hard to tell what exact color the others are based on the pictures and the description.
If I end up taking the auction down maybe we can talk about a deal for some of them and/or some of the other chips I have. Hard to commit to anything without taking stock of all of it afterward. And maybe if you winning the auction I can talk you into trading the whites for some of what I have. Fair warning - I will be bidding and am willing to overpay
Haha no worries about competition from me. I'd never do battle against a guy trying to complete a set. Couple more questions though: I'm a little paranoid about lead just because the wife is 4 months pregnant. It sounds like these are clay-ish and early/mid 1900s... so possible/probable lead content? And are these FDL chips similar at all to these Bud Jones?

Or are these plastic?
No worries on the lead content. Some chip doctors around here can tell you why but evidently there is no danger. As for the chips in the OP they could be filled with asbestos for all I know. The Bud Jones from your link are different and are more like plastic than "clay".
Nice. If we ever do an NYC home game you should bring a few. I'd love to check em out.
They even have a cross hatch! Here's another (much smaller) auction that just popped up:

I generally don't mess with the smaller auctions because the price per chip is almost always way too high. I've paid as much as .50/each for these, but that was only for 82 chips. The rest of my set I paid closer to .25/each for and this most recent pickup was about .32/each.
That said, if there was a big lot of desirable (to me) colors (i.e., white, red, chocolate), I would pay retarded prices.
Yeah, same deal. With shipping that's just under $1/each and there's not much I can do with 10 of a single color.
