Fine tuning my tournaments and trying to find the best solution. Have heard from a few players that they don't like add-ons. However, I would like to introduce an opportunity for players to top-off up to the end of the rebuy period. Below is the text I have drafted to be sent tomorrow for Friday's game. Let me know if this is easy for new-ish players to understand or if it's a decent idea in the first place:

Happy Poker Eve! Here are some details for tomorrow's game:
Address: XXXX, Farmington, UT
Start Time: 7:00
Buy-in: $50 ($40 + $10 bounty)
Full Rebuys until first break: $50
Reloads @ first break:
-Forfeit your existing stack and get a fresh $10k in chips
-$40 if your stack is <$5k
-$20 if between $5k-$10k
Plenty of snacks and drinks to go around. See you there!

You can simplify it even more.

Full Rebuys until first break: $50
-Must bust or you can surrender your stack for a full rebuy.

Done.

I would still likely make the surrendered stack only be $40, because they wouldn't be adding a new bounty.

OR

They could be worth 2 bounties when they get knocked out... that sounds like more fun!

Busted stacks who rebuy should include a new bounty.

Surrendered stacks who rebuy should not. (Original bounty is still in play.)

So, from this perspective, you could do $50 and $40, respectively. I just lean toward making things more simple. So, I'd just offer the standard rebuy(s) up to the first break and (optional) add-ons at the break.

You're not going to satisfy all of your players all of the time. If some don't like add-ons, oh well. They can run the event(s) if they feel they can do better.

Mix up the tourney structures for future games so that there is always a bit of variety. That will help too.

Sounds good. I think this is what I'm going to do:

$50 - Full Rebuy up to break
$20 - 6,000 chip add-on @ break

Starting stacks are 10k.
Blinds after the break are 200/400, making the add-on not quite as much bang for your buck as the initial buy in of 200bb.
