Hi,

I am new here, from and live in Alberta Canada.

I just play a casual $20 cash game with a few friends (6-10) once a month and just started looking into chip set options over the last few weeks. Have been getting most of my info from reading pages in this forum, so wanted to try it out, and potentially interested in getting in on the group buy next month (I think I'm just barely late for the cut-off this time).

I am looking for a <$500 set ideally (likely 500 chips unless anyone thinks that doesn't make sense for what I've described above). Almost convinced myself the CPC Rounders money was worth it (just seems so cool and obviously quality from what I've gathered from folks here), and then realized it was USD not CAD and the double+ of my budget was well into triple+ and backed off haha. Now thinking the monthly group buy seems like a logical way to go, plus I love some of the unique designs folks have done that you can't get anywhere else.

For any Canadian members, just curious because I've seen it mentioned on the group buy posts that it is US address shipping only, but have seen some other Canadian based members post and people recommending the group buy, so assuming it is possible?

Appreciate the info and look forward to losing my money and time here :).

Well, anything is possible, but some things are more challenging than others.

There are some PCF members that are willing to act as re-shippers, where the package is sent to them in the US, and they use either USPS or Fedex/UPS to send it to your Canadian address. That usually (but not always) requires some sort of pre-existing relationship with them. Note that using Fedex/UPS may involve substantial brokerage fees and payment of duties and taxes at the border. Regardless of which shipping method is used, ensure that the required customs declaration is attached to the package, or the package may end up permanently stuck at the border.

Another option, depending on where you live, is to use a US mail box service at a border town (Montana Shipping Outlet in Sweetgrass or Eureka MT, for example). Often packages less than $200 USD will be waved through without charge at the border, and even if you do end up paying GST, the $4-5 mail drop fee is substantially less than any brokerage fees from UPS/Fedex. There is, of course, the cost and hassle of driving to and across the border. Also make sure that you have some sort of documentation as to what you paid for it (they include US and State taxes in the calculation, but not shipping charges).

Another option would be to order directly from the Chinese vendor (Tina), and have them shipped to your Canadian address. You may end up paying more per chip, due to not getting the bulk discounts of a group buy. Note that with the rapidly evolving tariff situation in the US, the end cost of the US based group buys may be more than initially expected...

Can’t help with any international shipping, but there are a lot of helpful folks around here that will undoubtedly help you figure it out

Thanks so much, this is great info and helps a lot!

I ordered my chips from @justincarothers monthly group buy, and had them shipped to a US mail/parcel depot in a small town in ME. It's about 1 hour to the US border from my home.
I also had looked into ordering direct from Tina, but shipping raised the price per chip considerably.
You can check them out...
I play a $25 cash game with 8 players, and 500 chips should be plenty, with 25-50 chips being $5 for rebuys.
My stack consists of:
10 - $0.25
11 - $0.50
12 - $1.00
1 - $5.00

500 chips never make sense ;)

There are a few arguments for this, the primary one IMO being resale opportunities.

I wrote this post on cash breakdowns. You should still be able to stay within budget with CC or Tinas.

That's awesome! That's basically the exact breakdown and everything I was thinking about.

It's a little further to the border for me, little over 3 hours, so I'll maybe have to weight that vs additional direct ship cost or anything.

Is anyone able to link me to the direct ordering from Tina?

Thanks again!

These two links have been posted on PCF for the Tina site on AliBaba
https://szchenlin.en.alibaba.com/

https://szchenlin.m.en.alibaba.com/...&ckvia=share_D2FF42D048894F5196B442F99D0240ED

They both seem to go to the same page. There is a "Chat Now" button near the top right that you can use to ask questions and get quotes.

I suggest to research the various options (hybrid, cards mold, etc) before contacting them.
