I'm getting ready to order a ~1000 chip tournament set of Tiki King ceramics and wanted some advice. I started with a custom denominated 39mm set then I decided I would like to make the 5K and 25k chips 43mm. After getting the pricing back, I learned I could make the entire set 43mm for only 30 bucks more. So now I'm considering either an all 43mm set or a 43mm set with 47mm 25k chips. (maybe some 100k or a bounty with the remaining white chip now too)

I have never played with over-sized chips before so I would love to hear some opinions about which way to go. I have samples but only one of each so it's hard to know what issues 1000 over-sized chips might have. The difference between all the options are within my budget so I'm more concerned with playability, functionality and any pros or cons of the over-sized chips. Is bigger really better? Having all the chips the same size sounds nice but having some over-sized ones in the mix also sounds like it could make the game a bit more special.

I'm sure this will generate more questions for me but it's a start. Thanks in advance,

I just received my mixed 39/43 set a while back. I'd never used 43's either. Now, I'd say this: you may even want to consider making your 1000s 43mm. Because after you get them you're going to love the larger size..

So do you enjoy having the 2 sizes of chips and transitioning from the small to the large chips? I can make the entire set 43mm for just a bit more, so if you could go back and do it again... would you keep the 2 sizes or make all the chips the larger 43mm.

I have a mixed set of 39 and 42 and love them. My 1k and 5k are oversized. The only issue is having two different sized racks and lack of bird cage storage. Otherwise oversized for the win!

I have an all-43mm cash game set of ceramic hybrid chips and really, really like the size. But tourney sets with two sizes are really cool, so I vote the 43/47 option. I'd actually do the T5K in 47mm too, as T25K is tough to get in play for relatively small tourneys that start with T25 chips. Only disadvantage I can see is figuring out storage options for the 47mm.
