Not Mine Is this one of us (1 Viewer)

I generally paid $15 to $40 for the plaques in my collection. Occasionally I found a bargain under $10 but those I considered lucky finds.

I don't know the history behind these plaques but I do see lots of sales at $22 per unit so I'd rate the opening bid as fair market value based on eBay sales in the last couple of months.

No, they aren't mine -=- DrStrange

these are $5 samples IIRC

Pretty sure mine were sent free of charge by MSK. Possible I may have paid some nominal fee, but my memory is that they were free.

Have no objection to someone selling them, though. It's not as if they're trying to pass them off as live plaques. so no deception imo.

Check out the BIN

surely I'm not out of line calling this seller a Douche

I saw no small number of vendors at the chip convention selling manufacturer's sample plaques - including the MSK samples that many of you have received for free directly from MSK - in the $25-$45 range. I understand why one would think this price is egregiously high, and depending on how they sourced it, it may well be a douche move. There does seem to be at least mild market support for those prices, though. Some folks are just freaks for manufacturers samples. Many Matsui/TKR Whatever (I can't remember the name of the company right off hand...they own or are partnered with Matsui and Icon) samples go for $5-$10/chip...doesn't seem out of line for plaques to go for $20-$45.

Samples, NCV chips (look at Venetian year of the monkey), Win Chips, and private card room / custom / advertising chips are all ones that I may not pay for, but others might, or I pay small shipping or actual manufacture costs for. If I don't need it, and someone is willing to pay me for it, I don't have a problem with that. I would probably send back chips to fellow chippers who gave them out as samples (or pass them on), but I would not send back something I got from a manufacturer.

Summary : doesn't bother me, I am not buying it.
