I recently bought two sets of the J Design plastic playing cards off of Etsy. I have to say that these are the best plastic cards I have used. I work in table games at a casino and am very picky about my home game equipment. I’ve used KEM, Copag, and other plastic home brand cards. These are best!

First off the plastic card stock they use is thick. Too many plastic cards are thin and wear out quickly.

Secondly there is a texture to the J Design cards. This is nice when you try to peel off a card, you’re only going to get the card you want and no more.

Thirdly the luster of the cards have a nice sheen to them. They shine in the light and you can see the texture of each card.

Lastly the attention to detail is amazing. Every ace has a design on them. Also every king, queen, and jack has a different coat of arms.

I’m glad I bought 4 decks and will buy J Design cards again when needed. I almost want to buy another dozen decks just to have them for the future.

Thats interesting. I have 4 decks of Modianos and 4 decks of Dal Negros and these Desjgn feel completely different.

Both Dal Negro and Modiano use variety of materials. Just saying that Desjign cards may vary depending on run....
By the way Modiano is most inconsistant producer I know. So far to may experience only Platinium line is predictable.

I just got my set yesterday and agree they are fantastic. Easy to shuffle and came with a cut card. The cars do feel soft so I worry a bit how easy they could get dented by a finger nail but only time will tell.

I consider Desjgns the staple for home game decks. I have used 3 sets continously until they wear out.

It does have its weaknesses, though. Some brands fade/bleed, some begin to bow, a few crack.

Modiano Platinums generally fade (beginning with the thin black borders for the number cards), One deck of my Kem arrows started to decay in my hands (I cant think of any other way to describe it, LOL), my Copag Uniques actually cracked.

The Desgjns' particular weakness is fading, this seems to happen with the Bridge decks. The Poker sized decks started to bow a little before fading began to appear.

All in all, if money were no object, the Modianos Platinums still would be my first choice (I shuffle a lot during our home games). But the Desjgns cant be beaten for value, and they are probably better than any of the non-Platinums

I just got 4 Faded Spade setups, both Bridge and Poker sizes, I have yet to use them in full games but I will say off the bat that while its graphics may be the best in the business if you are ok for eschewing tradition, the stiffness of the cards clearly show they are not on the same level as the other decks mentioned here. They feel like any other deck made in China. Sad to say, they probably are.
