I've been searching for an obscure answer that I really didn't expect to find. We're just a group of seniors having an occasional social game. We're not high rollers ( we're all on SS or disability), but we enjoy sitting around at the senior center and razzing each other about our bad beats!! I'm the one who wants to add a bit of refinement to our game. Nice chips and nice cards makes it seem a bit more classy.

Recently, I've been asked about expanding our game list. Namely Limit games. I've got several chip sets : Skulls, Pharaohs, Poker Knights, Casino Royale and my Faux Clays.
My question: My Pharaohs would be the best choice for expansion. We are just 5-6 players, for a .5-.10 micro stakes game of Limit Omaha, how many .05 and .10 would I need to have a comfortable game? So far we have never had more than that play and we see no need for moving up to any higher Blinds.

The Pharaohs are:
.05-150
.25-150
1.00-100
5.00-50
NCV-50

All the breakdown posts were for 8-10 players and the Limit sets I saw had a crap ton of small blind chips. I was thinking and extra 100 .05 and .25 chips would set me pretty much where I want to be.

Am I on the money or am I barking up the wrong tree?
Thanks y'all, I'm slowly getting back into the swing of this.

I'm also involved in a 8 person cash game with a bunch or retired friends/acquaintences. We have a $25 buy in. Blinds $0.25/$0.25 and we play for 4 hours per session.

You don't mention your initial buy in stack, so it's difficult to put chips against that.

We play for the social aspect more than trying to make a living at the game. No one goes home poor or rich. No one goes all in unless their stack is near depleted. We may have 3-4 rebuys max per session, but those that rebuy usually gain chips on set #2.
My chip breakdown per starting stack: ($25.00)
10 - $0.25
11 -$0.50
12 - $1.00
1 - $5.00
totals $25.00

For my 8 players, my total chip breakdown
100 - $0.25
100 - $0.50
150 - $1.00
50 - $5.00

I use mostly $1.00 and $5.00 for the rebuys, but chuck in a few $0.25 and $.50 for the first couple of rebuys.
The guys make change with one another as needed for smaller denoms.

Pretty much what we do. We play until they kick us out. (about 4-5pm) Buy-ins are $5-10, but once in awhile $20. I put all the nickles on the table and round out with the .25s and a few $1s. Change at the table has never been an issue. What I'm wondering, in a Limit game would I need more nickles and quarters?

If you're only playing limit, I think you'd all have a lot of fun with a limit specific setup. 600-800 nickels and then 200 $1 chips would give everyone a rack of nickels and then plenty of 1 chips for add-ons. Everyone gets lots of chips to play with and it won't slow things down since all bets are limit.

The only reason I don't use more small demons is that they are a pain to count at cash out. We do once around the table once the 4 hours are up, and that's when the players put all their $0.25$0.50 chips in the pots, so they have less chips to count lol

I generally agree with at least 600 nickels which will also allow you to get quarters into play. Assuming max 3 raises per street then the most you can bet at a time is 0 20/0.20/0.40/0.40. Max 4 nickels per bet, often less.

in limit you need tons of the low limit denomination and one value chip denom as mentioned. When its time to cash out rack the chips, makes it very easy to count.

How many Faux Clays? If you have enough, you could just use them all as the same denom, disregarding colors. Maybe use one color as the BIG denom.
