Knock off chips (2 Viewers)

Are cheap knock off chips a problem in the chip world?
Are there fake paulsons like there are fake jerseys all over eBay?
Just wondering as I keep searching for my next score.

There are absolutely cheap hat and cane chips out there. I found some plastic hot stamped chips on an LCV mold mixed in with a hotstamp lot that were definitely not Paulsons, so they're out there. The mold work was very good, but the materials were clearly inferior. The vast majority of what I've seen and purchased from eBay has been legitimate, though.

The only reason I mention eBay and nothing else is that most chip purchases I'm aware of come from fellow chippers (generally safe), known retailers like Spinettis or Apache (generally safe), or eBay (has the most risk of the three, IMO). It would very unusual for me to buy something off Craigslist or other sites without me knowing the seller or inspecting the merch first.

I would say not really. Unless you're shopping on alibaba or other Chinese sites. eBay might have a few racks where people intentionally lead buyers astray with BS photos but I have never seen many. If it sounds too good to be true it probably is.
