I wanted to do a tribute set to the seaside resort of Le Touquet Paris Plage and in particular to the Westminster Hotel.

The Westminster Hotel is an iconic establishment located in the heart of the seaside resort of Le Touquet-Paris-Plage in northern France. Built in 1924, this luxury hotel is renowned for its Anglo-Norman architecture.
The Hotel Westminster boasts 115 rooms and suites, all elegantly decorated with a blend of classic furnishings and contemporary touches.

It is also the only 5-star palace on the Opal Coast in northern France.
The hotel also offers several restaurants, including the famous Michelin-starred Le Pavillon.

When I am in le Touquet I can't help but stop and contemplate the Westminster Hotel every time I pass by. Or even take a moment if possible to sip a delicious cocktail at the bar.

Did you know that It was in this emblematic hotel that British writer Ian Fleming created the character of James Bond in 1952 ?
In the first novel of the series, Casino Royale, Le Touquet is clearly recognizable as Royale-les-Eaux seaside resort.

In Casino Royale, James Bond is asked to take part in a baccarat game at the Royale-les-Eaux casino in France. He must confront and defeat Le Chiffre. James Bond stays at the Hôtel Splendide, which is the Hôtel Le Westminster in the town of Royale-les-Eaux, itself a fictional replica of Le Touquet. What's more, « Le Casino de La Forêt » of Le Touquet is the epicenter of the novel. A place that inspired Ian Fleming for its smoky, tense atmosphere, ideal for a spy novel.

Btw, Le Casino de la forêt has become a casino barrière but we can’t play poker there anymore…

But you can still play cash and tournaments in the other casino of Le Touquet, a Partouche Casino ;)

Anyway, let’s go back to our subject, the whole atmosphere of Le Touquet can be found in Fleming’s novels: the so-British phlegm, the elegant villas, the golf, the polo, the exceptional cars and the famous casino.

It was on a table at the Westminster restaurant that Sean Connery signed his first contract for James Bond in 1962. This event marked the start of his long film career.

Another James Bond, Roger Moore, stays at the Hotel in what has now become the "007" suite.

This projet is not a James Bond theme or a tribute to royale les Eaux set, it is a contemporary set. Inlay design is partly inspired by the PNY chips.
I wanted a large inlay for this design. And scrown mold was appropriate to me.
I also wanted to try a full Dayglo base set for a change with a Simple, nice and effective D14 spots progression.

Spot colors are mostly inspired by interior Colors of the hotel so with a lot of yellows/ brown variations and white color in the rooms is represented by a SF ceramic plaque for the highest denom.

In the hotel guest book, Ian Fleming wrote "Sometimes I'm East, sometimes I'm West".

So here's the West' cash set !

Very nice:D
As always a unique set with a special story, thanks for the journey!

Didn’t pay enough attention to the topper when I originally saw this thread, but damn that purple pattern around the edge is stunning! Perfect choice for the set.
