So I have a decent cash set of mint good luck club chips but the only rub was that there were only 1 rack of 5's. A full table cash game in our group requires at least 2 racks of fives. Monday on eBay I happened across those hot stamp cancelled Paulson Argosy chips, and that red 5 with the yellow and blue spots sure looked similar. I received my rack last night and it is an exact match to the old Paulson home game red/yellow/blue combo that is featured in several of their sets. Pretty cool as this completes my set, unless of course I can find a rack of the actual Good Luck Clubs. I am surprised that Paulson would produce an exact color and spot pattern from a home chip that was supposedly going to be used in a casino, unless that is why they were cancelled in the first place.

That is interesting. One of the only overlaps I have ever seen is the PNY $25 and the $25 from a casino in Port Perry Canada. Oddly they share identical features almost like the casinos are managed by the same company? But I find it VERY strange that they would have home chips echo casino chips unless they were made after the casino cancelled theirs.

PNY was a real casino (a cruise to nowhere) that never opened, it is not a home fantasy series.

In addition I think the $25 primary PNY edge spots are different than the chip you showed.

While we're on topic, I did notice one pattern that Paulson used in their manufacturer samples which is pretty darn close to a real live casino chip. They may have allowed the edge spots because the molds used are different.

I don't think the blue spots on the Good Luck Club and Argosy chips are the same colors. The Paulson color palette contains several blue hues which are very close but not identical. Add in minor differences between different batches produced at different times, and it can become very difficult to distinguish between the various Paulson blue shades. Close enough to be used together? Absolutely. But I'd wager a very large sum that the spec sheets for those two chips have different blues listed.

Same applies to the PNY/Point Edward spots, not to mention that they have different spot patterns.

I was aware that the New Yorker was a real casino. I did however suffer from a major brainfart when I compared the Point Edward chip to the PNY. What I meant to post was it's similarity to the NPS style $25's spots mixed with the artistic setup of the PNY.

I'll look again when I get home tonight, but they really did look exact to my (aging) naked eyes last night.

Yeah, stylistically, the Point Edward chips are basically identical to the PNY chips. Must be a connection.

I know we will never know for sure, but looks 100% matching to me

I looked through some of my sample chips and this red-blue-yellow color base/edge spot combination indeed seem to be reserved for Paulson’s “home” poker chips.

Here are 2 sample advertising chips, one for a Casino, one for a Tattoo parlor.

To @BGinGA ’s credit, note that the colors on these 2 chips do not exactly match up. I’ve seen some drastic color differences in Paulson color sample chips as well. I think maybe the quality control in color differences between batches were probably not as good in the past.
