Dear PCF,

As many of you know, I have been receiving treatment for lymphoma for some time now. I am happy to say that chemotherapy is now over!

To mark the occasion, I am starting what I hope to is an annual fundraiser for lymphoma research at the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center, a national powerhouse for treatment and research of blood cancers. They are into some very exciting stuff including CAR-T therapy.

I'm not big on words, but please consider donating to this organization.

Thank you to all who have shown their support over the past 6 months! It means the world to me.

Bert

Spends $100s on chips

Too cheap to donate $10 for cancer research

Sound familiar?

Cancer doesn't GAF who you are - it can hit anyone, even you. The money you donate may be the money that helps find a cure/chemo/preventative therapy for a cancer that hits you.

If you haven't already, toss some coins in the bucket. It's unlikely you'll even miss the money you donate.

I am glad the Chemo is over for you. Praying the scans are looking good and your family tis doing well. Yes I also say, "F$&k Cancer"!
Super happy to see you having fun at inca’s meet up!

Free bump, just donated. Glad to help celebrate the end of chemo, Bert -- hope you're feeling better!

Checking in this morning to say goodbye to Paul Allen, Microsoft co-founder, who died yesterday at age 65 from non-Hodgkins lymphoma. He was owner of the Seattle Seahawks and according to the New York Times had a special amplifier built (he was a guitar fanatic) with a volume knob that went to 12 to honor the fans of the city's beloved football team. He was instrumental in keeping the team in the city, only purchasing the team to keep it in Seattle. He also was owner of the Portland Trailblazers and co-owned the Seattle Sounders.

He left the famous Microsoft in 1983, one year into a battle with Hodgkins lymphoma. He became a philanthropist and dabbled in many hobbies over the years. In 2009 he was diagnosed with non-Hodgkins lymphoma, presumably related to the treatment from his first lymphoma. Two weeks ago he was diagnosed with a relapse of his NHL and vowed to fight the disease.

He founded a brain research institute and worked on safer helmets for his players in his free time.

Over the course of his adult life, he donated over $2 billion to charitable causes.

Donation sent.

Keep on keeping on Bert! You've always been a cool dude in my book.

A great big thank you to everyone who donated. We were able to raise almost $3000 towards lymphoma research! The donation thread remains open so feel free if you are so inclined.

There are so many new discoveries being made in directed monoclonal treatments for many malignancies - giving patients hope and improved quality of life. Research isn't cheap, so thank all of you for contributing. I am touched that we were able to raise so much.
