I'm debating on wether to go with the milanos or majestic chips for a small stakes casher. I was sold on the milanos until I did another run through all the chips I was initially considering. The majestic look is growing on me. I kinda really prefer the looks over the milanos. I have a sample of the milanos , but not the majestics. Does anyone have or have had both, and which do you prefer? It seems like a look vs feel debate/difference to me. Also, the only place I can find the majestics is apache poker, but they're like $0.39 per chip. Dang! That's more than the milanos. Is there anywhere else to find them?

Apache is the only seller of Majestics. It was their concept.

If you watch the classifieds, Majestics pop up on occasion. They usually sell a little cheaper than they would new, but you are stuck with someone else's preferred breakdown.

I still play with Majestics fairly regularly, but my Milanos were last used a couple years back when I loaned them out. The host then bought Majestics.

If you prefer the Majestics I'd recommend going with that instinct. If you get the Milanos (which are fine chips btw) you might periodically find yourself pining for the Majestics.

Also, 39¢ might seem like a lot, but consider it a long term investment. These chips will last years... potentially a lifetime.

A 300 chip set of Maj's will run you $117 + shipping. Is $117 worth 5-10 years of entertainment? IMHO, yes. :D

The price difference is around 5c per chip, that's only $30 more for a set of 600 Majestic chips. To me, it would come down to what set I like more. I would not let $30 influence my decision either way. I would probably go the majestic route because of the extra goodies like plaques, dealer buttons, and whatnot but either way you should pick the set you like best. I have both and don't prefer one to the other. I use the majestic set as a travel tourney set and I relabeled the Milano set as a travel micro cash set.

Since the quality and feel are essentially identical it really just comes down to looks. I think the Majestics look much better than Milanos and its not close.

Is Apache still selling the jetons? Man, those were cool. Had I picked up a set of microstakes Majestics, the $20 jetons were definitely on the table.

All in stock except the $100 plaque atm. The plaques seem to go in and out of stock. You can always contact josh to find out when he will restock.
Fun stuff like this makes the majestic set an easy pick. My travel tourney set uses plaques and the players love it. If I had a majestic cash set I would defiantly get some $20 jetons.

I don't think this is accurate. The quality of Milano's is reported to be significantly less than Majestics, ranging from chip deterioration (flaking, crumbling) to color variations, to chip thickness variations. I've not heard of any of those issues with the Majestics.

I can't speak for Majestic thickness; however, there WERE issues with the Milanos I had. There were no flea bites or cracks, but barrels of the black 100's were SUPER snug in their racks compared with everything else which bordered on loose for the same qty of chips.

The consensus is that all CC chips might have thickness or color variances, but it's my opinion that Maj's are the best in their class.

I've not had any flaking issues with my Milanos (10+ years old), though admittedly they don't get tossed around much. I may have to peek in the case just to make sure they're not just a box of dust.

Milano thickness between different denoms was a thing though, if that sort of thing tilts you.

Thanks for all the input. I'm glad I posted about this. The only downside to the majestics is the salmon pink 25¢ chip. I'll deal with it though. The milano has the brown 25¢ to deal with anyway. Not a fan of either one, but oh well. Anyway, I was leaning towards the majestic ever so slightly, but your input has tipped the scales. I think I'll be ordering some this week. Thanks again for all the help.

That's awesome! I didn't realize they offered these. I'll definitely be getting the dealer button at the least. Thanks for the heads up

I wish the 25c chip was orange instead of the 50c chip

Majestic Labels can be easily swapped or replaced.

This^ big time! Yet another reason to go Majestic is that you can buy blank chips and labels and make the 25c chip whatever color you like. If Apache doesn't have any factory labels to sell you, gear is allowed to make them for you. You don't need the use the salmon 25c maybe blue or orange would be nice.

Edit: I guess you can do the same thing with the Milano 25c, but I am not sure if gear has permission to copy the label, I know he can do the Majestic label unless something has changed recently.

That is awesome! Thanks for the tip. I think I'd probably roll with either the orange or the blue. However, both of those blanks are out of stock right now. Hopefully they can get some made up soon. How long should I expect it to take to make labels if I were to inquire about them? Just curious...

If Apache still has them in stock, no time. It's possible that Gear has all the stock now though. Production time varies, but Canada to US postal hand-offs can take up to 4 weeks.

Best to go straight to @Gear for the info on what he has and costs. Ballpark, 20-30 cents per chip. Keep in mind you only need to relabel one denom.

If you made a welcome thread, and people say "say goodbye to your wallet"... you now know why. Here $79. There $30. It adds up, but what you have will be what you want. There are very few things in life you can get modified just the way you like.

Is it difficult to strip of the existing label off, say, the orange 50¢ and swap it with the 25¢? Does it leave a lot of adhesive residue? Any risk of damaging the aesthetics of the chips?

Of all the chips I've peel labels off, the process was simple and clean. There have been reports where some labels left residue that needed to be scraped, but I haven't had that experience.

Even when the underlying surface isn't baby's-bottom smooth, laminated labels have enough stiffness to them that those minor imperfections are not noticeable. In this short video, you can see how quickly labels come off (RT Plastic chips from a casino, other makes/labels may vary). Yo can also pause and see that the surface under the label in not level. The dark spots on the chip are holes that you could see through to the slug inside the chip, yet I had no idea before removing the label that the holes were there, and with the replacement labels cannot tell they they are there now.

FWIW, I just picked up a set of Majestics here. I found one purple $500 with a $100 label on one side, and another $500 with a crack. I carefully switched the incorrect label with a label from the cracked chip with no trouble, and I can't tell which chip is the one in question.
