I had these back in the day right after the sight unseen buy
I didnt really want to try and build a set and sold that on eBay for almost nothing

Most were used, yes, and it's possible all of them were put into table racks but there were definitely some that were so clean and sharp that you couldn't easily determine if they were actually used. When I had my rack roughly 40 were in this condition, and of the barrel I retained about 17 are in such a condition.

I don't know if it's a "good" offer - I think such a determination would need to be made by any potential sellers - but I think it's at least reasonable.

Last time these sold, I believe it was about $350 or $400 for a rack? Not sure. I do seem to recall one listing selling for considerably less than market value though.

I've got some Empress 1k primaries that are pretty minty IMHO with crisp edges. See the right side of this pic.

As for the price you're offering.... I'm down to needing a few as well, and I was offering up $90 for six of them, figuring that was about $14 a chip. Was able to land a couple singles at that rate. So definitely a fair price. But in order to shake free any quickly, you may need to bump it up!

Good luck, OP. Yes, there are mint/NM Empress Joliet primaries out there, and not just $1k’s. I have mint $25s and $100s in my tourney set, and one mint $500.

Mint $5s were @Gear-ized as $5000s:
