I’ve just noticed there’s a scratch on the plastic box. Not the top with the printing on, just the translucent side. It’s on the right of the ‘front’ side of the box. You can actually see it in the picture I posted of the box.
See the attached photos for a better view off the scratch.
If this is a big problem for anyone, I have no issue if you want to retract your bid.

Nice! I’d never seen these, and had no idea they were so valuable, though hey… they have SHRINK WRAP - the ultimate authenticity indicator! :ROFLMAO:

Shrink wrap jokes aside, does anyone know who made these chips?

I think whoever it was had a great idea, though it could have been even better with additional denoms, possibly adding Iron Man, Black Widow, Captain America, Black Widow, Wolverine, Black Widow… OK… I’m losing focus, so back to the auction!

The chips were produced by Paulson with official licensing by Marvel and in partnership with Dufferin Games. Dufferin Games was a Canadian retailer that specialized in all types of gaming equipment such as billiards, darts, foosball Tables, hockey tables, ping pong tables, shuffleboards, and yes... poker and gambling supplies. But from what I've read Dufferin proceeded to declare bankruptcy right after Paulson delivered the first batch of sets, and therefore only 200 sets were ever produced.

I'm sure that they originally did have plans to release many more sets and to likely include other Marvel characters in them. After all, you can't really play much of a poker game with 80 total chips LOL. But all of those plans went right out the window once Paulson - and Marvel - realized that Dufferin could no longer afford to pay them. Also please keep in mind that this was back in 2002, and so it was long before Disney and the MCU had ever even entered the picture.

Thanks! Very interesting history! It’s a shame that more and larger sets were never made.

Hmmm… maybe the next NAGB order??! ;)
