One of the games I host is a casual/social 25¢/25¢ micro stakes NLHE cash game. It's a fun game with a good amount of banter and booze, poker is kind of secondary. About a year ago, looking for a new chip project and after seeing someone post pictures of a limit set with 10 different racks of casino $1s, I came up with the idea of doing something similar for this game. The set would be composed of two chips - starbursts for quarters and white casino $1s - preferably with small spot patterns so as not to confuse them with the starbursts. Each player would start with a barrel of starbursts in a different color and $1s from a different casino. Then as the night progresses, you can see who's winning whose chips :) We do usually play with a few $5 chips on hand (those are the "serious" betting chips ;)), but given all the starburst colors, I thought it would get confusing adding in some red chips for fives. Enter the $5 MSK plaque group buy with the perfect solution! So I grabbed a bunch of those (and subsequently some of the $20s), problem solved. I had figured on this being a relatively small set, two racks of starbursts and $1s plus the plaques. After numerous eBay snags and deals with folks on the board to assemble this barrel by barrel, I had "enough" for the set to function. Then I noticed another barrel of cool looking $1s. And another one. And another one. And so forth. 5+ racks of $1s later, this has turned into a bit of a collection set now, I figure eventually I'll have enough for a good size limit game :)

All of the starbursts are in mint to excellent condition, and the $1s range from mint to good (nearly all stand on edge). Thanks to the many PCF folks for helping me build this set:

While I have enough $1s for numerous different starting stack combinations, the stacks below are my favorites (combo of my favorite $1s, getting the cool bright starburst colors like blaze orange into the mix, and then color matching) :

Forgot to mention that the inaugural game is this evening, I'll try to grab some action shots during the game and will provide an update over the weekend.

Don't invite @BGinGA or you'll have 37 little perfectly organized stacks in front of him haha.
Nah, with that many options I'd likely just sort 'em by mold and darkness of inlay. :) And twenty bucks for a barrel of Isle of Capri chips would seem like too good of a deal to pass up at the end of the night. :sneaky:

Nice job, Irish - I like the rainbow!

LOL yeah those I will eye like a hawk at the end of the night, pieced those together mostly chip by chip, they're my favorite.

Ended up 7 handed this evening, the new set went over very well, especially for the host (kept those Isle of Capri's close) :)

$20 starting stack:

Action shots/pots:

Played well and had a sick run tonight, not top premium hands but lots of sets and suited aces that flushed.

Love those Isle of Capri chips! I had bid on some of those single chips on eBay in the last 5 months or so myself, but mostly the other $1 with different colors, although I think I have one or two with the blue/green/orange spots. Hope I didn't bid you up on any auctions!

Great pics, great idea, and great execution on putting the set together!

Love the concept, love the execution, love the set, love the pr0n... the only thing I don't love is the idea of sorting the set after every game!!! :D

Very nice.

Curious: were people selectively betting off certain chips in order to collect others?

This is a great set!

Ever thought of using a 4-color deck too?

I haven't played a lot online so I never gave those a thought, may be a good idea with this set - to further mess with everyone's heads, lol.

Sooooooo..... it's been a while since I first posted this set, time for an update to my Skittles set. The set has definitely become more of a collector thing now, and it's ballooned to nearly 1600 chips & plaques and could now function as a $2/$4 limit set if I wanted.

How have I not seen this thread until now? This is my new favorite set on PCF.

@Irish as you know I’m trying to do something similar with $1s so please let me know if you have extras.

And here's where the sickness becomes madness. So when I started this project a few years ago, I also started a similar Mixed Set "B" - a dealer's choice limit project. Same approach as the skittles set - each player gets a rack from a casino (instead of a barrel) paired with a barrel of starbursts for antes. To start, I picked up a couple of inexpensive racks of $1 from the various chip room / chip exchange sales. Horseshoe Cleveland, Horseshoe Cincy, Native Lights, and Terribles - a very nice 800 chip value set. As I collected more and more barrels in the skittles set, I grew really fond of a handful of barrels, and right around Christmastime last year, made a little "wish list" of racks to eventually expand the limit set, if any became available. NYNY, Foxwoods, AC Hard Rock, Silver 7s Vegas, Dover Downs, Four Winds South Bend, and Jerry's Nugget. I figured it would take quite a while to assemble them all, and in the interim, traded/picked up a few other inexpensive racks at close to face value. A few weeks later, an ad for Foxwoods popped up. Then NYNY. Then a chipper mentioned he was going to AC to play at Hard Rock and could harvest a rack there. I swear every friggen rack on my list popped up for sale the past 4-5 months. So much for the value set, lol - and now I have this - Skittles Limit  :ROFLMAO:

That clearance sale threads I posted a few weeks back included all my extras in building this set, the only thing I have left are a few barrels of starbursts.

The Blurple Hard Rock AC $1 is amazing, is that a live chip?

Yes the AC Hard Rock $1s are live. @Lil Tuna was kind enough to harvest this rack for me a few months ago while he was playing.

Those Capris blow everything else out of the water, one of my all time fav chips!

I'm always on the hunt for more of these. Maybe one day they'll get moved to the big limit set.....
