Have not played in years - felt the need to look at what is out there. Found this den of enablers on the cusp of the Horseshoe sale - branched out with some Lucky Derby $1's now Quarters thanks to GearLablels. Might add to the set if opportunities present themselves, but no pressure to o so.

That's a great quarter choice, very nice. I still just love the @Gear labels for these Horseshoes, the color matching is insane.
But yes, you definitely need to add moar chippes! ;)

Thanks Everyone! This has been a lot of fun. Here is the case these will be in for a while if/until I expand. A Lowe case from a large on-line auction site works fine once a tray is modified to hold 100 (rather than 96) of the $1's

Love the Lowe cases and I admire your effort, with the modification. Personally I had no problem living with 96-chip racks, but I do understand.

So how did you do it?

Here's mine:

Wow! That is a a nice looking Lowe Chip Case - I have a 400 chip case as well - just nothing to go into the last slot (yet), and needs the handle repaired. For the modification - it did not appear to be too much - a few thousandths of an inch off on each side - but working on a closed end box was annoying and took some thinking on my part. While not "pretty", it was effective - all with the box still assembled:
  • Wood rasp down to almost the bottom of the groove for the divider slot - this leaves about 3/16" along all edges untouched.
  • Use an Exacto knife with a sharp spade blade to essentially shave or chisel the remaining excess, which is difficult going against the grain so get an occasional gouge.
  • Sand using 100 grit paper to remove the high spots and smooth out the rest
  • Test fit and remove more material and sand until satisfied
  • Glue the dividers in on bottom and sides (not originally glued on sides, but with so much of the slot been removed I was worried they would pop out with these heavy chips)

great cash set that i am sure will grow soon...as there is another chiproom sale coming !

gear labels are always great and make the cleveland chips a super playable lower stakes home game set

The quarters look great! Are you still able to see any recess from the hotstamps once the labels were applied? I was considering a similar relabel with Lucky Derby chips as a fractional.

In general - if you catch the light right - you can see slight indentations from the LD hot stamps, but you have to look for them. They are not legible in any way. Worth noting that many of the chips are worn nearly smooth and there is barely a sign of the old logos.

Great, thank you for the information!

That is a great looking set. I think the quarter look the best.

But that could be because I don't have any of them....
