Anyone know where I can get a sample set of these (preferably cheap shipping to Canada?)

Does anyone carry these besides Discount Poker Shop? I don't know if they do samples.

I don't think discount poker does. Fortunately, they're cheap enough as to where you can buy a barrel or two as "samples".

And they want $48 USD shipping to Canada for 1 -25 roll from discountpokerchips (n)

Among my favorite looking cheapies (aside from that brown quarter! :D )

@IvoryTrance Confirmed. I have 200+ grey and 215 black. The Grey's don't have labels and the blacks have custom gear labels. Easy to remove.

$25+ shipping and they're yours.

I really like those grey ones. I’m brand new. Are those plastic? I’m looking for a good set of clays (I believe).

The sellers call them clay or clay composite. To me they're plastic but they feel OK in the hand, much better than stacking or dice chips. They have a metal insert to add weight and usually weight 12-14g each. Cost ~15c per chip.

The "real" clay chips come in two main flavours:
- China clays which are solid clay chips made in china (Majestics etc) - about 40c/chip
- Clay chips made in North America for casinos and home use (Paulson, CPC etc) ~$1/chip and up

China clay chips are injection-molded plastic with added earth elements (silicate, etc.) to mimic the characteristics of real 'clay' chips.

High-end clay chips are compression-molded out of blank material slugs using high temperature and high pressures, and require hand-labor to assemble the blanks (cutting out and adding in the spot pieces). There are only two places left in the world that produce this type of chip: GPI's factory in Mexico, and CPC's facility in Maine. Only CPC sells to the general public.

All of the 'clay composite' chips are injection-molded plastic, usually ABS. If they weigh more than 9 grams or so, it's because they are molded around a metal slug insert.

Ceramics are also injection-molded, but using a much different high-density polymer to create a blank chip, which is then printed on the chip face and rolling edges using a dye-sublimation process.
