I absolutely love my CPC/ASM chips (CSQ) but if there was one thing I would ding them on it is, brand new, the variety of thicknesses. Absolutely workable but annoying. And I know this mold has a rep for for a reason.

Of the CPC molds currently on offer what do those with experience think the most consistent is as far as size, specifically thickness? That is which one will stack the most even straight out of the gate?

I’m curious why new mold cups can’t be made. If they are wearing out, which is supposedly the cause for the variation in chip thickness, why don’t they just forge some new mold cups?

How much variation is common with CSQ? Looking into ordering a set likely, but haven’t handled more than a sample at a time.

A pic to show the differences, chips involved are the rounders CSQ

DSQ: Not so good... but IIRC not so bad as the CSQs above either.

Some discussion of that here:

Specifically:
Technology is no longer there. Those craftsmen have died out. Even if we had the master die (which we don't) the estimate for a replacement 10 years ago was $75,000.

My CSQ order came with these issues too, and as great a Custom Poker chip is, there are little issues that we have to accept. And its not just CPC! Paulson has some issues as well...

I believe the A-mold is the “newest” mold so it has the least amount t of wear to it. Which should mean that it produces the most consistent thickness of chips within a color.

Somewhere are pics that are very zoomed in of all the molds showing how much cross hatching each mold had and the A mold had the most by far.

On the other hand, A-crest is always running, so there is no huge benefit of being newer when it will be used every day, compared to CSQ f.ex. that only runs 1-2times a year
