I recently made a post about getting some new chips, so I ordered from one of two vendors in Canada. I ordered a sample of Monte Carlo Poker Clubs, and Poker Rooms. As everyone had mentioned on here I really wasn't super impressed with the quality of these given they are almost double the price of generic chips. The Poker room chips were more uniform in size but the colours weren't what I thought they would be, also they were very light and didn't feel too much different from my generic chips. I thought I would make this post so any other Canadians who are considering ordering from them may rethink and potentially just save their money for a better set. I have attached an image of the two different chips below.

That being said, if any Canadians know of a good site that ships from the States please leave a recommendation below as I am still in pursuit of some new chips.

I recently ordered a roll of Phoenix and crazy horse chips from straightpokersupplies(The other Canadian company) to see if the quality difference is noticeable.

This post brought me back to my first week on here. lol

I also started out with a “Casino Weight” set of Monte Carlo. I remember posting shit like “ no way I pay $.50/chip” or “you people are mental…$2/chip”. Oh boy….

It was only a few months later and I’m trying to build racks of Jack Detroit $1K and $5K. Unbelievable and at $20/chip and even $30 for the $5K. Hahahahahahahaahha!

Definitely, I’d steer clear of MRC, but it has its uses for cards and stuff. If you need something fast, and it’s local, you can get nice playing cards. There is an MRC location relatively close to me.

I think you are better off buying used Paulsons.

Yeah its unfortunate because I was really hoping to spend like $500 CAD and get a nice new set that is a noticeable upgrade to dice chips but after trying out these sample sets I really wasn't sold on the price. I did see that someone was selling a paulson set on facebook marketplace for $800 but I am no expert when it comes to chips so I wouldn't be able to verify if they are truly paulsons. Could someone take a look and tell me? I have attached an image.

This is also something where if someone wanted these I would be willing to purchase these and sell them to a user also on the site. I love how they look but me and my buddies only play cash games so a tournament-style chip isn't exactly what I am looking for.

So those look like GPI (Paulson) Elite chips.

I actually don’t have any relevant experience. I have a set of bounty chips (20). They are of high quality. Slippery sort of glossy plastic feel.

I’ve never used them for a game or played at a game that used them. Many here have them, seek them, and buy and sell them.

I’m not sure on price. I’ve been away for a bit and I’m out of touch. Hoping an owner can chime in.

Quality will be high. So there is value.

These are decent chips if you can get them for a good price. They are made by GPI so have the Paulson pedigree, although I think they might have been under their Gemaco brand umbrella. Their introductory price here IIRC was $1-and-change per chip (USD), so if you can get at this price or close to it then it is worth it. Make sure the breakdown works for what you want to do with them.

Thanks for the replies guys! He was asking $800 CAD for the entire set which I think is more than worth it. Just don't see how I would use them for my current cash games which is unfortunate. Love seeing the Canadians on here.

Maybe somebody else here would want them. Do you know what the breakdown is per denom?
