Well, two and a half years ago I found PCF looking to add to a hot stamp set I had made in college back in the early 2000’s. I had a great poker group that played twice a month regularly and we needed more chips to cover when we needed two tables.

I found out they were no longer being made and the utter sticker shock of what you people were spending on chips left me flabbergasted. I did the whole sample thing and eased my wife into my new hobby with a Tina’s Big Top Poker cash set and a @rjdev7 / BRPro’s Super Poker World Tournament set.

Then late one night after several stogies and bourbons I snap bought a small CPC set with the labels removed. (You see the gradual increase in chip cost, ok) @timinater has outdone himself and I am currently waiting on the label samples from @Gear before ordering.

Then, thanks to @k9dr I had the opportunity to attend the Suicide Queen Melee and play with some of the most sought after chip sets in the game. I started looking at some Paulson sets and I would like a THC $1 and a RHC $5 and a TRK etc. I admittedly have some issues with OCD and just couldn’t find a set that I liked all of the denominations together. Then I stumbled upon @FDLmold ‘s Rat Rod set thread…. The wheels started turning and I found @louBdub and @FestiveKnight and @BryantRC and @calfdemon who were or had built unbelievable sets. I started to love the idea of seeing different chips each time I played and weirdly it spoke to my OCD. The logistics of finding singles while working and having 3 kids in very time consuming sports was overwhelming. Not to mention putting constraints such as only hot stamps, or only THC Cali Casinos would limit availability and drastically increase cost. And I didn’t want to wait years for a playable set. Then @UniLover posted an RHC Rat Rod set in a playable size for sale.

Now the plan is to add to the set over time, eliminating duplicates and worn chips. Over the next few weeks, I plan to organize and see how many unique chips there are. I am excited for the journey! My first goals are to build a few racks of RHC blue $1’s and add to the RHC pink snappers, green $25’s and black $100’s.

Thanks,

Mud

I have a lot of $1 chips from all over if you are looking to fill out racks.

Love it! Building and polishing a Rat Rod set is so much fun. For me it is a long term project that I'm not sure I want to end. Welcome to the club!
