I thought it would be fun to post this statistical analysis that I use when teaching some basic statistical concepts. Below are my costs per chip on e-bay over the last 4-5 years of purchasing Paulsons in all kinds of shape, all kind of molds...

Since I've always had a tough time with math, I fold.

A mean of 58c? Where are you getting these deals LOL.

I remember back in the days when Paulson chips less than a buck each was a snap buy. A time before The Chip Room was selling hundreds of thousands of vintage casino chips at bargain basement prices.

It would be easy to think that 50 - 60 cents a chip is "normal" but I think that is backwards. The Great Recession broke many marginal gaming venues. The war on on-line poker didn't help either. The Chip Room brought a huge influx of chips to market at a time when many of us had less disposable income, driving prices to rock bottom. None of this is going to happen again, not all at the same time. I think the "normal" price of Paulson chips is at least a buck each and any factor that makes the specific chip more desirable is going to drive the price up.

Anyone hoping for a return to the good old days of 2010 - 2013 is likely to be disappointed -=- DrStrange

The next great recession is upon us. Hang in there.

But if/when Paulson enters the home market again, we are in for a spectacular ride.

I also rarely buy mint or new, so at least with older used casino (like empress) I was getting some good deals.... and with the ultrasonic cleaning & oiling they look great.

but at least now with pricing being high the custom chips being shown on this forum are much more attractive price wise...

All I can figure is that the Paulsons you must be buying are a lot of used chips, non-casino chips, RHC and/or roulette mold chips, and/or low-denomination ($1, $5) chips.

My average cost per Paulson chip purchased over the same time period is well over $2/chip..... but consists of almost all new/mint casino chips on the THC mold, many high-denomination chips ($500, $1000, $5000), several racks of mint/near-mint casino 25c chips, and a couple of pretty expensive high-end casino sets. The highest price per chip I've paid for a playable (non-collectible) chip is $95.....I'm guessing that would gotten you a rack and a half. ;)
