Alrighty! Samples arrived mid week so I have had a few days to fondle and here is my opinion so take that for whatever it's worth. After the last couple of weeks doing a deep dive on this subject I certainly am aware others feel completely different than I do. First I will get to the molds I am NOT interested in. Cards and Dice...dont like the look. FDL...not doing a large inlay and doesn't fit theme wise. Jockey...doesn't fit theme either. Large Crown was interesting as is Small Crown as I love TR KING chips but both are too slick/slippery for my taste. Circle Square is super popular but personally i felt it was not for me. Diamond Square felt super smooth and I personally didn't like the feel or look even though some of the most beautiful sets I have seen have been on these 2 aforementioned molds. H-Mold I do like ALOT but that is what my first set is on and I want something different for my next set. Now getting to the good stuff...HHR really impressed me and was in the top 2 as far as a textured feel that I personally like...though again I just don't feel it fits. Elephant and Crown was a BIG surprise in person. Never considered it before but it feels great in my hands and with the right theme I think it would be absolutely amazing. A-mold is ok in looks and feel but doesn't separate itself by either. Another big surprise that sparked all of this is SCROLL...dang that one has grown on me. Scroll is definitely loved or hated but in my book it's an absolute sleeper thats extremely unique in looks and the feel imo is better than average. The other mold that has absolutely jumped to the front of the pack unexpectedly is B Diamond. There is ALOT to like on this mold. Feel is at the absolute front of the pack with HHR. The looks of this mold have also grown on me tremendously. A couple other things thru reading that I like about B Diamond is the wide outer ring should make it more durable than others. Another plus with this mold is average weight of the chip is right at the top of the leader board. Though I don't care about weight as much I used to... its still a positive aspect in my book. Anyways that is my 2 cents... maybe it will help another chipper out someday. The only ones that need to be happy with the mold is the purchaser so good luck to anyone else trying to make this decision.

You gotta break this one up, man, ellipses are not replacements for transitions and paragraphs! Whats the too-long-didnt-read breakdown?

I'm just gonna say this....
Most people new to the hobby wanting to buy CPCs forget one hugely important detail. Their biggest experience with chips are usually of the Paulson casino variety. And those chips have hundreds, maybe thousands of hours of use. CPC samples have zero. Believe me when I say this; most CPC molds and especially LCROWN chips that have been broken in, are frigging magical. Not slippery or nubby. Like Butta'

Yeah....I knew that was coming!!
LMAO! Should have waited to write that when I wasn't bouncing down the interstate at 85. That shit took all my super powers to write legible words MF'ers!!! It does look a little methy...LMFAO

Thats a good point. I have a shuffle stack of H Molds from my original set 15 years ago that are like butter and feel nothing like the new mold. Thanks for your input.

You mean you were texting and driving? Please don't do that, kills people every day.

Re: your weight observations -- were all the samples the same color? That can affect weight...

Just make sure you aren't comparing apples to oranges.

Thanks BG...I am aware of the weight differences between colors. I actually did not weigh the mold samples I received from CPC...but I will tomorrow. I was going off an old thread where two different members had almost the exact same weights as each other from mold to mold.

This.

Definitely get a barrel of the mold(s) you’re mostly interested in. A single sample chip isn’t enough.

Here, I'll do it for him. No changes to the text.

Dammit @TX_Golf_N_Poker you stole my thunder. I typed all the below before realizing what you'd done. LOL

Chat DPR version:
  • I got samples.
  • I touched the samples.
  • Opinions differ.
  • Card & Dice suck.
  • FDL & Jockey don't work.
  • Both crown molds are slippery.
  • Didn't like diamonds though other people made good diamonds.
  • H-mold is awesome but I already did that.
  • HHR is great but also doesn't work.
  • Elephants are big... ....wait. Elephant & Crown was a big "surprise" in person.
  • I enjoyed feeling Elephants with my hands.
  • Scrolls tend to grow despite being loved or hated but are sleepers.
  • B-Diamonds are line jumpers.
  • I like line jumpers.
  • I like weighing line-jumpers.
  • But I don't care about weight.
  • But weight is positive.
  • I have 2 cents to my name.
  • People who buy chips should be happy.
  • Good luck.

That will teach you for trying to clean up my disaster! Yours is more cutesy though. Might be a career opportunity for ya there.

No problem. I understand the criticism. I should have waited to write it at a more opportune time so I could put my thoughts together better.
