Great set of non-custom chips. I don't know who Sidepot had manufacturing their ceramics, whoever it was did a great job.

I absolutely LOVE how the Veneratis feel but.... But....

How does the $1 chip make you feel?

The only thing that stopped me from buying a bunch of these for a cash set some months ago was the Yellow decoration on the white background for the $1.

Tournament wise, starting at the $5 and up its perfect but I just couldn't handle the $1.

How does it make you feel?

Regarding the $1 chip, ambivelant I guess.

Overall, I take more issue with the kerning of the lettering being so tight. There is plenty of room to have spaced out the lettering more and that's particular to every chip.

Neither issue was a deal breaker though given the pricing.

I didn't realize the quality of the feel until after I bought them and agree they have a great feel to them. They stack tightly, too.

Overall, the quality exceeds expectation for the price. Really good option for a travel set. Or to put in play if the crowd you are hosting wouldn't appreciate and treat nicely a good set of clay chips.

Always liked the Venerati chips, they have a classy look, perform decently, and are a great value. To this day they are still the wife's favorite chips of all the sets I've owned.

@Kensco - You using the blue no-denom chip as a cash chip 5c? You should also pick up a barrel of $1000 chips; those oranges were one of my favorites in the set.

How do these chips wear over time? I traded sample sets with another member, and the orange $1000 was quite worn.

@CdnBeer: I haven't noticed any wear in casual, less than monthly, use over the course of about five years.

Maybe the other member you mentioned can weigh in on the life of the sample chip you mentioned. Perhaps it was subjected to some test conditions that impacted the finish?

@BG: yep, use the blue non-denoms as nickels for .05/.10 up to .15/.30 games.
I've got a China clay set in the works for tournaments. Milano chips got here last week and I'm expecting Gear will have my labels to me next week, so I think I'm done buying Veneratis (but don't hold me to that).

And that 25k chip is nice!

I've been tossing the idea of getting a couple of light blue non denom racks for my cash set. My Montecito cash set only has 100 non denom that I use as my .50 and I figure I can add the Venerati to my existing chips.
Great looking chips!!!

I acquired many many stock ceramic chip sample sets earlier this year and thought the Venerati were among the best, and at the same time one of the least expensive.

I'm contemplating purchasing 1000+ of the quarters and 200-400 of the $5's to cover a $0.50/$1 limit game (2 chip / 4 chip structure) where I can give each player a full rack of quarters for their $25 buy in and use the $5 value chip for the reloads.

I figure it would be very expensive and take a long time to acquire 1000+ casino fracs, if even possible.

where can you get these from? cant seem to find anywhere.....or maybe I am not looking properly

How does the $1 chip make you feel?

It tilts me because the red stripe on the edge is not aligned with the red mark on the face.

If not for that, I would have bought a set of these for cash.

Also, several of the chips had a "darkened" effect around the rim of the face, which looked ljust made them look dirty. It was most noticeable on my $1000, which is otherwise a very nice orange:

I don't see any of that effect in BG's pics above... my samples were acquired in 2015.

A friend of mine has a set of these. I like them a lot. If I wasn't getting the GOT ceramic set I might just own a cash set of these. Great value imo.

My orange chips were vibrant. Those almost look like cheap Chinese clones. Where did you get them? Were they like that initially, or did they darken with play?

I certainly would have preferred to have had aligned edges. But for 39c each, I was more than willing to use them as-is for half of what similar aligned edge chips would have cost.

It's a Sidepot 10-chip sample set from early 2015. They were never played.

The color in the photo is partly the lighting - the chip looks like the same bright orange as in your photos in the center area, but the rim of the face has more of a brown look to it. So the orange matches yours - just picture it with a dirty rim. Sort of a beige or tan spray-on effect.

Several of the chips have a slight darkening along the rim - it's a color match to the edge, which is darker than the face color. But the effect was too strong on the orange chip.

I agree - at 39c each, they're a bargain. And I was able to ignore the alignment issue on every chip but the $1. One the $1, that red mis-alignment just "popped" too much and tilted me. Like I said, if not for that $1, I'd have bought a cash set of these, even with the dirty $1000 (which, no, I would not need in my cash set...)

Can some of you who own/play with these chips on a regular basis comment on the wear and color fade, etc. over time? How would you compare the Venerati to the Archetype? I bought a sample set of Royal Yak ceramics a while ago and have been only shuffling them at my desk and they have faded pretty badly. Does that happen to all ceramic chips?
