So I'm reaching for a little help here being kind of a rookie and I don't want to mess up my first big buy.
I have a bunch of samples and still waiting on a half doz more but I'm lost as to what the current going rate on a bunch of the chips and ship sets.
Hoping you guys can help me out?!

I've seen several on eBay and Apache and I don't want to overpay.

This is 450 chips
And I have others I'm eyeballing and I'll put them up. Any help anyone can give me is much appreciated.

The eBay markup likely has to do with the fees (final value and PayPal) associated with listing it there.
Yeah, that's what I figured with that set but I'm still lost with some of these others but I was thinking maybe I should just stick to this site and troll the classifieds and try to score a set there.

What type of set are you looking for? A tournament set I assume based on the original post?

You'll definitely do better here. Aside from the markups for fees, eBay people are often looking to make money. Here, people are generally just looking for a fair price, and often sell chips for exactly what they paid.

Oh yeah, I like a nice tournament set. Preferably between 750-1000 chips. But for early on, I would go with something smaller and try to build it up over time.
Something as close to look and feel of casino qualities as possible. I had some Paulsons casino de isthmus years ago and loved them.
I've never seen some of these others or felt them. But I did find some samples on them and ordered some.

That's what I was figuring. Everyone is quick on the draw in the classifieds though. I'll have to keep at and eventually land a set at some point.

Not sure if it would be to your taste, but I have a 1000 chips tournament set of BCC Aquasinos. They were made for a casino that never opened. The colors are great, and I love the feel of them. I just don't need a second tournament set, especially considering I've used tournament chips once in 7 years.

Anyway, if it's something you'd be interested in, let me know as I'd be glad to sell them for a very reasonable price to a new/local chipper (y)

I love the spoiler button.  I just figured it out. I'm not a chip snob yet! I'm willing to check them out and love to sample them a little.

I'd stay away from the WSOP chips in the first post, first off they're 36mm chips so they're a bit smaller than what you're used to. Second of all they are in limited supply, so it will be harder to build that set up over time. Something like Par-A-Dice would be easier to build over time.

And I'm gonna sound really new here.
I saw some asm chips and I don't know what the difference in them are because I can't really find samples. I know they are different manufacturers but I've never touched either of them.

Thank you, great advice that makes sense to me. I'm deleting off my watch list.

Do you mean the difference between ASM and CPC? Or did you mean the difference between ASM and Paulson/BCC chips?

 I didn't realize the BCC were Paulsons! Yeah, meant the difference between the ASM and Paulson/BCC.
I hope it's not annoying to all you guys that know more about poker chips than me.

On the other hand, they're the only WSOP chips known to exist in the wild, which makes them pretty unique and cool.

Also, not to overwhelm you, but these just popped up. Also on the BCC sun mold.

Oh! Those are nice. It's so hard to pull the trigger on them when I've never handled them before.

They're not really the same, sorry for the confusion.. I just meant were you looking for comparisons between ASM and Paulson (or BCC).

Yes! I want comparisons on a lot but those 3 chips seem to be on the high end and that's kind of what I want. High end tournament chips and a couple other sets in between, price wise.

Well then the age old advice holds true. Get samples. Cool your jets, partner.

What would a normal chip be in size?

39mm

Many people find they feel a bit odd while handling. I am one of those people.

I have a sample for those coming in the next couple of days. I guess I'll see how it feels when they get here.
