Hey all, I just joined this group. I play some home games with friends and I'm looking to step up the chip quality from the cheap target starter set. I have one friend who has the "slow play" chips but I'm not sure what people here recommend. I'm thinking either china clays or maybe ceramic. I'm also interested in the group buys but I'm not sure when the next one is since that seems to be better pricing. Looking to put together a 600 chip set and probably get an acrylic case. My absolute max budget all-in is $500 but if I'm going to spend that much (or close to it) I'd like to have something really high quality that will feel nice and last pretty much forever.

Let me know your thoughts/suggestions and appreciate any feedback!

Welcome! It’s helpful to forget the word “budget” around here  :ROFLMAO: and if you see the word “paulson” logout immediately.

Thanks for all the feedback! I went ahead and requested a sample of the tina ceramics that are in the group buy from Justin to get a feel for those chips.

Welcome!

Agreed with above, the Tina hybrid web mold is one of the better options for your budget (plus a ton of design options).

There’s also a new Tina design coming out in the next couple of months if your not in too much of a rush:

With Tina’s, you’ll have some left over in your budget for some decent plastic playing cards and a table topper. Don’t know what the rest of your setup is like, but recommend these. Copags are one of the easiest to source (not always popular here), but there’s half a dozen solid options on this forum as well. There’s also group buys for playing cards that are 40-50% the price of copags, search ‘Broken Arrow’ in the forum.

GL!

Oh the Tangiers ones look cool! Haven't seen that movie in a while but could be a good casino style setup without it actually being a real casino. Thinking the below breakdown for a setup from 5c/10c game up to 25c/50c game and smaller tournament games as well starting at 5c/10c blinds. Typically 5-8 people at the table. Open to suggestions/feedback on the breakdown!

5c - 100
25c - 175
$1 - 200
$5 - 100
$25 - 25

Cool.

Recommend checking out @Chris Manzoni video, I used it for my initial sizing. He also has a tournie size video, however there’s a bunch more tournie sizing info on the forum depending on blind level etc. Most recommend a separate tournie to cash set.

Good ref for:

I’d recommend adding another rack / 100 of $5s if you want to go up to 25c/50c. Also, most folk buy/sell in ‘barrels’, you might be better off rounding up your quantities to the nearest 20 (180 vs 175). Most racks and holders are designed for 20 chips.
