Heya guys,

I am new to the forum, just saying hello! I've been wanting a set of Paulson chips after seeing a lot of pictures online. Any advise would be awesome!

Tony

Hey tony

fellow aussie here. Like you totally addicted to Paulsons.

so what do you want to know? Paulsons are easy to get. Sadly you will pay hansomly for them.

also what state are you in?

Welcome,
There is a well priced set of Grand Vic's on the classified. Not sure of your budget.

Paulson pricing seem pretty crazy, I'm just uncertain of what sort of breakdown I need for cash games. I usually play around 25c/50c with my friends.

I'm near Gold Coast Queensland

I saw that actually, but want to see what else is out there before buying anything. Seems like there's this raffle from another Aussie? Those ones look nice too.

Welcome, Tony.

Yeah, jump on the raffle for the PCAs. If you win those, that's a pretty good starting set for your 25/50 game.

Otherwise, check the classifieds here day and night is my advice because well-priced sets rarely last long around here (y)

The other (current) option is T-Chan's BCC micro stakes set. I personally like BCCs as much as Paulsons.

yeah youre right they are the best chips in the world and as such you will pay for them. I was in your position a few years ago but now i have bought and sold a few paulson mint sets and presently have a mint relabeled paulson set. to get chalky mint paulsons is "THE" best thing ever in chipping.

edit - i thought i may add its important to be patient, get samples and know exactly what you.re looking for. Paulsons come in a few different moulds, Just about limitless colour combinations, colours denominations etc etc. There are so many variations i have no doubt whatever you're looking for is out there. So my suggestion is its costly, so spend your money wisely.

Gold coast hey? ahh really good news then. we are having the first Aussie Meetup next year in brissie! search for the Southern cross shootout thread.

there will be PLENTY of sets there.

Haha I gotta have to work out the PayPal thing first. What's the BCC chips? How they compare to the paulsons?

Looks like the Wallet is going to hurt lol

Heaps of history discussed around here, but in short they were another American clay chip manufacturer back in the day. Most of their chips have an amazing feel and sound. They just had some QC issues & were never really considered as premium as Paulson.

there is a short answer and a long answer

Long one

all the chips i play with fortnightly range from 1 USD to 3.5 or so USD per chip. I have 650 chips so thats about $1000 USD chipset give or take. Sadly living in OZ means you have to factor post into it as well. You can get 100 chips to aus for about 35 usd. so it may be up to 1200 all up. and that took me a few years getting a rack here and a rack there.

If your able to get any paulson in good nick (excluding rouletts) for 1.50 usd per chip thats a pretty good price. as for the higher denominations (1000 and above) 10 usd+ per chip is not out of the ordinary. Depending on the set the sky is the limit. So look into as many old adds in the classifieds and get a feel for whats around and the going prices. have a look on eBay too. there is the odd bargain in there.

Short one

Yes.

Bccs are good too. Very similar manufacturing process. they are much rarer than paulsons. and some of them are on my bucket list. from time to time there are some bcc for sale here.

but remember to get samples. Photos can look BETTER or Worse than the real thing.

and secondly

Get samples.

Welcome! It is the truth when people say your wallet will take a beating.

I don't want to burden you too soon with ads, but @Jackstraw has a listing of Grand Victoria casino Paulson chips at an extremely affordable price through the link below. International shipping can be expensive, but the savings from these chips more than makes up for the cost. This is a great set for a new chipper.

After looking at some pictures, I think I do prefer them being in new condition. Looks like I gotta save up a lot for this.

Thanks for letting me know, I decided to go for it! I think I gotta have to get into chipping more to get a proper set.
