Sitting Out
I am new to collecting chips and trying to decide on where to start. I have gotten a few sample sets from BR Pro Poker and the casino Royales from Apache. Now I just need to work on what I want and how much to spend.

I don't agree with the above. I think we can all look back on our chipping journey and say I wish I didn't buy this or that... but that is part of the journey. Our tastes change as we walk the path. There are lots of stories where someone jumps right in and gets customs and then regrets it a year later. If I could do it over I would've just bought a nice set of paulsons, or custom CPC set right away, and probably would've saved money in the long run.
At the moment I am looking at playing Tournaments more but like the idea of being able to do cash as well. I have a decent variety of sample sets so far. 3 BR Poker pro, Casino Royale, CPC Rounders, and Paulsons. I understand the quality of CPC and Paulson being better but I can't justify buying those with no current game set up. I dont have a specific budget yet either but I am trying to find the balance of quality to cost but also something that looks interesting. I always find myself defaulting to more of the traditional look of chips like the CR or the King of the river based on the samples I have thus far.Welcome!
I'm sure you'll get a lot of good advice here that will help you. It would be good to know a few more things, like do you play cash games or tournaments, or both? What stakes, and how many players? And what is your budget to spend on chips? Whatever it is, plan on it to increase x3 at least in the next year or so.
From my own personal experience, I'd recommend taking your time and get more samples. I started with several sets of the lower end Apache chips, which I loved. And I never thought I'd spend more than $0.15 - $0.25 per chip. But eventually I sold all of those chips and spent waaaayyy more on custom chips. If I could do it over I would've just bought a nice set of paulsons, or custom CPC set right away, and probably would've saved money in the long run.
Maybe can indicate more information what type of game are you looking for. Cash Game? Tourney ?Now I just need to work on what I want and how much to spend.
I love them and would probably already have purchased them but they have been out of stock for some time now. That's when I started looking on br and now love them too lol.Welcome @Troy_McC1ure , my cousin joined the forum... but then went straight for Apaches Casino Royales Tourney chips, a roll out topper, he loves them and never looked back.

Absolutely nothing wrong with this set up. Funny that the 08 casino Royale Slugged Chips actually brought me to the forum

I think he bought like 400 chips for just over $100 and now the whole family asks him to bring his "good chips" for poker night. Maybe should have followed in his steps because this is more like my obsession level

Unfortunately hunting them 11 years later I paid way more than I shod have for many of those (about $.50 per chip average) so came into this hobby looking at prices saying "there is no way I am paying $3 a chip!" But for those of us that trully catch the chipping bug... before long its $3 a chip, $10 a chip, $20 a chip... yes it can get that bad!
Set your budget, try to stick to it! If you fail and find yourself constantly looking for more chips that you trully don't need... well welcome to the Club! Many people don't understand that poker chips are just legal variants of Heroine or Cocaine... yeah they can be that addictive!
Good luck with the Journey!

I would probably lean more towards a tournament game but I like the idea of cash being an option.Hi,
