Hey I’m a student running cash games at my university looking to get some nicer chips. I’m kinda bummed cuz I was about to buy the banks from apache and apparently they are out of office for a week or so.

Hey so I’m looking for some chips. I realy like the banks from Apache and haven’t found much that is similar. I’m looking for China clay I think. I wanted to buy some samples but it seems like I can get anything from Apache for about a week. Any thoughts on other chips of similar design?

Welcome Youngblood! You’re ahead of the curve.

What stakes do you guys play currently?

The banks are pretty basic chips imo. You can get other chips, for close to that price, on other sites. Check out spinettis and maybe some casino supply websites. Apache has other options I think are better. Royals and majestically are probably better. He has some ceramic sets available now as well. But if you can’t wait then you’ll have to shop around.

You can get milanos or claysmiths chips. They’re pretty cheap.

Or get on the classifieds and buy a “Tina” ceramic cash set. I think there’s a new china club set somewhere.

Welcome to the forum!
Avoid "china clay". Poor and incosistent quality (though the ones overseen and sold by Apache have been certainly more decent).
Go for new generation hybrid ceramics, like the "Empire" chips offered by Apache (a vendor here, too) or the "Tina Chips" offered here by the Broken Arrow vendor. It's the sweet spot for good quality and reasonable prices.

I second the hybrid chips. Just finished my custom web mold set and IMO I like them better than just about any other chip.

Yup they are great! Did you get Greek or web mold?

I got 700 Greek mold empress star tourney chips en route. Cannot wait..

The hybrids are sweet but they will always be behind Paulsons. RHC and THC are just the best imo.

I got web mold. I used a custom label and the Tiberius colorway.

Its going to be an unpopular opinion but I prefer the feel of these even compared to CPC and my Paulsons.

For the price they can’t be beat. And the custom options. Plus the new hybrids are far better than the cards molds. It’s cool that Tina got better and not worse.

I have 43mm Greek and 39mm web hybrid ceramics and while they are super nice without mentioning how pocket friendly they are, I do not think for a minute they are in the same league as my Paulson Jack tournament RHC set. Great quality, but there is another tier. IMO

Agreed on getting better. I messed up my first order (ordered the wrong chip quantity) and had to do a second order two months later. The second order just came in and the QC is even better on these than the first ones. My first ones were fine with some minor issues, but the seconds are perfect.

Hello and welcome!

Lots of college kids joining lately, I see.

My advice: just have fun. Use those cheap chips, wooden tables, and paper cards. Laugh, cry, give each other shit when the river sinks or raises you. Build a fellowship of degenerate gamblers.

Only approach this forum when you've accumulated some real spending money. Really, what's here are the least of your worries.

Welcome to PCF.
Get samples! Try before you buy (a set).
Be careful... you may be going down the rabbit hole, and that can be hard on a college budget!

Suggestions from personal experience

1) if u staying long term - save up you money and Clay RHC+ set (good condition+)

2) if u staying short term - just get the bank chips and don’t come back until you start working

Sam, the Bank is exactly the same money with hybrid ceramics, either by Apache or Broken Arrow.

For sure, this place isn't ideal for a long-term stay, if you don't have a good job or don't belong to a wealthy family. :)

Welcome fellow college student, you came to the right/wrong place.

I would highly recommend looking at @AK Chip ’s most recent post for what he’s selling. Those blanks could make for an awesome custom set.

As well as @Rooster410 ’s post for his Apache blanks. Also a good chance to create your own labels.

These are your most inexpensive options on this site that you’ll run into for now. A lot of these chippers are holding onto some insane sets that I never knew existed. The longer you lurk on the classified section the more you wallet will whisper to you to stop being a p**** and just buy. Tread carefully my friend. God speed.
