Trying to get my post numbers up so I can PM a guy about buying his table... lol. Back in college had a weekly low stakes cash game. Now that I've got 2 kids and a job, I want to start hosting monthly low stakes games at my place. I still have my old college gear but it's in desperate need of an upgrade... particularly since I can actually afford stuff now.

Also, I own a brewery here in town... always willing to barter.

With a name like dinosaur, I feel like we might could be friends IRL. Howdy back at you. Where in ATL are you? Or do we frown upon such personal questions?

Well... while I'm waiting around, anyone have opinions about any of these chips? Samples arriving next week so I can upgrade my college plastic slugs.

Those are mostly plastics and I think empire is their new ceramic offering. The majestic is the only real clay chip that’s listed. I still feel fairly new here, so please correct me if I’m wrong.

But, are y’all gonna have poker nights at the brewery? If so, I’ll come through with some donuts.

Oh yeah. This place has turned me into a chip snob.

Feel free to hang around and burn some money. Or get in and out with that table and keep your wallet happy.

Ok… I recognize there are entire threads dedicated to chips but since I can’t comment on them… what chips should I be looking at? I really want $.25 denominations is part of the challenge…

Hadn’t considered a brewery poker night! Let me see how my home games go first haha.

I would skip all except the Majestic Star. But that's just me.
What would you go for if you were me (not just Apache). This was my birthday present so I have a little money to burn. I’m a man of refinement and good taste, but balance that with not wanting to get ripped off. I’m also into home theater stuff, so in that realm it means I will never buy Monster cables or Bose.

How much are you trying to spend/chip?

Plastics = cheap. But most are like the dice chips. May have a better design. But ultimately the same.

Ceramic = mid level, I guess. Most popular around here are the ones from Tina(China). Run around $.39/chip.

Real clay chips = what this forum is focused on. Range from about $1/chip - infiniti.

I was thinking around $.49-.59. But dammit now I have to check out Infiniti. BRB.

Nahh. Not a poker chip. I meant to say that some people are spending infinite amounts of money on chips. Like tens of thousands of dollars.

I prize design above all, so I would go custom or semi-custom at whatever level I can afford. It could mean clay, it could mean ceramic. Almost never plastic.

I like my home theater stuff, too, but I don't go wild. My 12 year old projector and motorized screen works just fine.

But @Machine has a pretty comprehensive welcome thread. Iono how to link to it. But I’m sure he’ll/she’ll come through and help.

Well that’s just dumb unless it truly brings you great joy and you’ve already donated a shit ton of money to worthy causes. Ok what at the $1ish level is worth its salt?

I have enjoyed a few Mondays. Slap fight I think most often. Might have picked up a case of rhe Mondays before ;)
