Hey everyone,
I’m looking to upgrade to a “nicer” poker set and that’s how I stumbled upon this lovely forum. I’ve been using my 500pc dice chips with a group of 5-8 but after feeling some nicer chips at the casino, I realized that I really need an upgrade.
After spending the past two days doing research, I’ve been just overwhelmed and not sure how to proceed. I’m looking for some more specific opinions, and since i’m from canada, I’m looking to buy chips from either Amazon, MRC Poker, StraightPokerSupplies or Alibaba. I understand that suppliers like BRPro of Apache Poker offer higher quality chips, but I just don’t know if I can justify paying 600cad+ for chips as I’m still a university student. I’ve considered SlowPlay Nash chips and Crazy Horse chips from StraightPokerSupplies, but I’ve heard a lot of mixed reviews on both. Just to include this for fun, in terms of design I’d say my favourite set that I’ve seen so far is the BR Pro Golden Dragon set.
My priorities: Durability, “a nice shuffle”, ideally minimal flashing
Budget: 350 CAD
I’m also looking for advice in terms of denominations. My group typically plays $0.1/$0.2 blinds with 20$ cash games and I’m looking to get a 500pc set. I heard what I could do is represent $0.1/$0.2 as $1/$2.
Any suggestions will help! Thanks in advance
