Hello All,

I am a new member who has looking for my first cash set for a home game. Looking for $1, 5, 25, and 100 denominations.

Hello! Welcome to PCF!!
Do you have a general idea of what you might be interested in? Do you have an idea if you're looking for paulsons, China clays, ceramics? Have you considered getting sample sets of chips? (Best way to get a good feel for the chips you're interested in and shuffle them a bit) Theres lots of options for cash game chips, I'm sure you will be able to find something quickly!!! Most here are very friendly and helpful, feel free to get opinions at any time!! Good luck with your chipset search!!!

Brie

Welcome to PCF! Budget and how many players/tables you need to support is import info to help get you in the right direction

Welcome to the forum!

I feel it was just yesterday I came here looking for information and chips education.

I did the sampling, and be warned, you will likely find things you like. You hope its just one kind of chip..

I had a 800ct chipset that did function. I hosted a few small basement games with them...

I wasn't intending on any of what's happening...

I am currently in possession of 2250 chips.

It's absolutely nuts!

I've lost all control...

Houston! Houston!

@Jeevansluck

Yes, I have seen them. Seeing them is what actually led me to this group. So far, Jack casino chips are definitely my first choice if I can find some 5's at a reasonable price.

In you lower end of the budget scale are chips like Horseshoe Cleveland and Cincinnati. $1 & $5 are easily had for under $1 each. $25’s are right around $1 and $100’s at $2 each.

They are used RHC chips, about the most commonly available type of Paulson.

If you want to get new RHC the new Jack Detroit chips just came out and are pretty readily available if you are willing to pay. The $5’s are in the $3.50 to $4/ chip range. The rest are a little cheaper.

These are just a few sets to give you an idea of price fluctuations. There are soooooo many sets to choose from.

Do you want new, or casino used? Or just home game used (which are pretty much still new, just not chalky lol)?

Head over to the pics section and start looking at sets. Once you have enough posts you can post a WTB ad and will have plenty of people offering up sets.

I really wanted a JACK set, but it was a little out of my price range so I settled on CPC rounders. I am considering getting in on the Sunfly 43mm group buy for my second set @ChipFinderSK

"Settled on CPC rounders"

This place turns newbies so jaded so fast.

Seriously though, nice set and good luck on your next of many sets you don't need but absolutely want and totally need!

@Just1Better Thank you! Found my first set already and now thinking about a second

Great selection on the CPC chips. Your situation is very similar to mine about 4.5 months ago.

I joined, unbeknownst to me, 4 days after the Chip Room sale for Jack chips. No big deal at the time. I saw the thread, loved the chips but didn't see the financial pain I would have to endure to get them. (Pr0n is coming) I still don't have all that I want, but about 80% of it. I can felt a STT with my Jack chips. I ended up being treated to a game featuring Jacks. @grantc54 , it's all your fault! :ROFLMAO: But...you warned me to not play as they are addictive, so you are absolved of any wrong doing;)

Playing in that game started a fire in my heart to get Jack chips as a tournament set and I cant seem to put this fire out...I am still actively growing the set. Ridiculous!

My first move was to sample chips. I got huge help from @T_Chan who allowed me to sit with him and his collection and touch and feel many amazing chips. Boat chips. Pharaoh's. CPCs. Some ceramics. There is more but I got a feel for what I wanted. I've been playing poker long enough, so it was easy to determine that for myself.

I SELECTED CPC. I didn't settle. You maybe don't know what you got there quite yet. Mint CPCs. Amazing chips. They will age like fine wine.

For sampling, @T_Chan let me bring a barrel home. Yep...the man is gracious and talented. I played with them for 2 days and then emailed David Spragg. Bought a 700ct "stock designs" Rounders set. It was an easy "no-brainer" decision to pay $1.75/chip. As I am anticipating August 15th, my first home game featuring a full table of 9, my CPCs will get to start it off. I'm so excited to felt them.

I got many other chips after I joined. I even said I can't afford them. I bought them nonetheless. You are going the same way as me. You will buy Paulson's...I'm sure of it...

Don't forget to love the CPC chips. Use them. They need to be broken in and they get even better with use and time. Give them love and mineral oil. You will fall in love.

All the best man! Have fun! Find what you love:tup: sampling is awesome!

OMG there’s like 50 out of context quotes in that post

@Zmasterben and @Jeevansluck dont get me wrong, I love my CPC set. I will keep them forever and even if (more like when) I get a set of JACK. I just LOVE the colors on the JACK detroit set and that would have been my 1st choice.

Yes. I agree man! I Love the Jacks too. Not gonna lie...

Can't pretend I havent wiped out a chunk of life savings trying to buy them...

The colorations are stupendous!!! Tomorrow will be my first day off in a week. I will have a day tomorrow with my sets and taking photos..
