We broke in the new table Thursday night (Monaco Red) after it was finished and brought down to the card room with the build team playing a four-handed cash game for an hour or so to be ready for our weekly Friday and Saturday cash games. She’s fitted with a continuous LED light strip in the recess we placed in the rail, USB ports at every one-way jumbo brass cupholder, speed cloth with betting line, and a six inch wide well-padded rail.
It. Is. Sick.
Special thanks to
@scoobydoobs who was the technical force behind the build and main reason I brought my home game out of retirement a few months ago. Also huge thanks to Spills and Razzmo (two non-forum regulars) for all the hard work. These two kids have the handy gene and love the game.
We leaned a ton from this (our third table build in 3 months) and since I sold off one of my two home-built octagons (thanks again
@scoobydoobs for the help on those two builds this past fall) I am assembling the start-up funds for what will be oval number two; Monaco Green. Same table different cloth and maybe an extra extra like a cash drawer underneath and one of a couple of other innovative add-ons we dreamed up. No spoilers. You’ll have to wait and see.
Opening night was especially good to the host as I’ve been running around Even Steven. Took care of that. The green octagon and 9 chairs pictured below is now in the possession of, get this, a board game enthusiast. No worries though, he and his wife were pumped.
Now to get the dogs settled on the 3 hours of sleep I squeezed in, eat, hydrate, grab a nap, clear the card room and do a chip count, and basically just get ready for tonight’s session.
I’m very lucky to be able to spread a consistently attended session every Friday and Saturday night. Since we went to straight up cash games (we’re planning to do a monthly deep stack/higher buy-in tourney) having a match twice weekly is easy peasy since no number of players is really too many or too few. We’re also planning a monthly “high stakes” cash game to reward the regulars and worker bees for their efforts.
Run well Poker Chip Forum and we’ll keep surfing, stalking, and posting.

Monaco Red ready for its first non-warmup assignment.
@scoobydoobs who is pretty much our dedicated dealer. He’s amazing and deals a great game.
The host has to pay for all these toys somehow.
So long Green Monster II. You were pretty awesome.
