My thoughts exactly. Pretty rare to see new THC molds produced these days. I like the 4V pattern, too.

Yep cool to see new THCs but not something that interests me too much at 4/ea.

Still a mint 100 racked up probably looks sexy.

All speculation, but I think these factors all come into play:

• RHC production process is more automated
• THC production produces more errors/scrap
• RHC chips have a shorter lifespan
• RHC chips have larger inlays = less clay
• Larger inlays = larger images and more real estate for casino message

All are benefits for GPI's bottom line except the last one, which can be a big selling point.

A drop chip is a chip that only goes in the drop box (i.e. is used to pay rake) and generally isn't sold to players and does not play.

In this case, the dealer could cover a $4 rake by taking a $5 out of the pot, pulling a $4 and a $1 out of the rack, putting the $1 in the pot and dropping the $4. That way the chips just cycle between the rack and the drop box.

They are never in players' stacks. They live in the dealer's tray, and on every pot with max $4 rake, the dealer changes out a redbird for one of these (dropped down the rake hole) and a $1 (back into the pot.) This reduces the bulk in the dropbox (so security doesn't have to clean them out quite so often) and keeps $1s on the table so that the dealer's tray doesn't need filled with racks of $1s like every hour just to have change for the rake.

I’ve got an Aria $3 drop chip. When I went earlier this year every once and a blue moon one would be pushed to a player. Prettier green color on the less favorable house mold.
