I bought a table topper from @rjdev7 a while back, with the intention of swapping out a couple based on the chips I was using. The issue is that I have a custom built racetrack table and not a Barrington. And I wasn’t getting a good fit when I tried to lay it on top of my playing surface and under my racetrack. So I decided to just remove my speed cloth, sand the curves where the topper ends and the wood begins, and install the topper to see if it worked. I couldn’t be happier with the results. Can’t wait to host my next game.

Whoa. I'm not going to lie, I thought YOU were "nuts" when you approached me about this idea, but I love how it came out! That's super cool. You still get the betting line and elements of your outer grid without losing the racetrack. Love the concept. Thanks for sharing!

That's exactly why I wanted to do it (to have a real betting line). One of my regular players loves to put his chips on the felt instead of the racetrack, and we were always asking him if that was his bet. So having the topper installed will remove any confusion.

In addition, the padding from the topper just adds to the padding that was already under the speed cloth, so it feels really good now. Nice and cushy - but not TOO cushy.

Do you just stuff the topper under the racetrack?

And does everyone just stuff it into the rail with barringtons? From the pictures I've seen they all look pretty clean but I cant tell without closeups if the edges on these toppers would distract me.

No, but that was what my original plan was. I decided to actually install it. In other words, it’s wrapped around the middle piece and stapled underneath.
