Before kids, I hosted a low-stakes game for years. Thanks to Covid, that game has been reborn online. My current chips are just some cheap composites, but I’m looking to upgrade soon. I’ve always loved the WTHC, but trying to build a set looks like a fool’s errand (and an expensive one at that). I’ve ordered samples of the CPC Atlantic Club set. I’m also curious just how good the china clays are.

Before kids, I hosted a low-stakes home game for years. Thanks to Covid-induced boredom, that game has been reborn as an online game. The only chips I currently have are some composites I bought 15 years ago. I'm looking to upgrade pretty soon. I'd love to build a WTHC cash set, but that seems like an expensive fools errand, particularly given my preference to play with lots of low denomination chips. I've ordered some samples of the Atlantic Club set from CPC. I'm also curious just how good the china clay sets are. I'd certainly appreciate any advice.

Listen to me. If you see something from CPC that you like, get it. CPC (and ASM before them) are good people. Support 'em.

If you're slightly budget minded, hang around here for a while. And I'll tell you why.

Whenever you log in here, it's like stepping into the DisneyWorld of ADHD crack addicts. Take the guy who runs this place- mack daddy head dealer who also runs one of the chip companies. He soaks his balls in pre-fired soft clay warmed in retired TRK cups. Sure, he'll deny it....but you know. And I think he likely whacked a couple guys to get some of the forbidden molds. Then you got the peripery lieutenants like that Chip Room KINGPIN. "Herp Derp, I travel around the world and dedicate myself to bring you the best chips." Don't believe him; he's an unrepentant sado narcissist hellbent on subsidizing his own addictions by drawing you into his self constructed playground purgatory of never ending casino chips.

To them it's like shooting fish in a barrel-They live to peddle a controlled substance to a population that can't say "NO." These poor people that they target run around in circles for decades and can't control themselves and are constantly moving around their inventories, and they do it right here. There is some shit that moves through here that you wouldn't believe. All they want is their next hit, but their coke vaults filled up long ago, so in order to cram in the new crack, they gotta liquidate some of the older drugs. And despite the fact that they are fiending like groin unicorns on horn hormone, most of these degens have no appreciation for scalping or profit. They'll flip quality poker sets for whatever they paid for them.....like 10 or 15 years ago just to make room for whatever new set that makes their dicks twitch like a wounded lizard. Sick. Sad. Pathetic.

And it all happens in the Classifieds. Yep. Each day, the stuff moves real quiet and real quick. That's the nature of this drug.
Remember when I said they 're moving sets that are like 10 or 15 years old? They are, but at those old original prices! That means you're saving 30% at a bare minimum.....and getting a product that isn't even made anymore! And the sets are more or less in mint condition! Why?! BECAUSE THESE GUYS NEVER PLAY WITH THE SETS. They're too busy flippin 'em.

And that's where you come in. You're gonna get your dose by preying on their inability to appreciate inflation and the rising costs of manufacture. That's right. But you gotta be quick. Quicker than a meth head on his tweak-peak. Look in classifieds a few times a day, and be ready to claim that sweet set that emerges. And these poor souls all have stories about that "perfect set that got away" when they were too slow on the trigger to send that commitment PM.

Now I can see that your eyes are glazing over, so I wont bore you further.

Besides...I got my eye on something new and shiny...so I gotta make a quick post in the classifieds...

I’ve always loved the WTHC, but trying to build a set looks like a fool’s errand (and an expensive one at that).

It isn't a fools errand. It just takes a little elbow grease and a little time. Very few chips are available off the shelf. I would advise to either get your bank account right and 1) check here and eBay frequently (several complete sets have sold for below market recently on eBay), and/or 2) start PMing people and track them down (probably most sales happen via PM here) and paying attention to the classifieds here.

WTHC cash is the first set that I "built" here and now I will be able to play with that set forever.

Welcome to the forum @BamaT8ter! Awesome user name BTW! Like everyone says, get samples... set a budget...if you fail staying within that budget, welcome friend!! Lol

This forum is full of some of the most amazing kind hearted people you will ever meet. Totally operating on an honor system! I have bought thousands of dollars chips and recieved them before I even got the check in the mail (yes one of my buddies here still likes checks for large purposes).

Like anywhere else there are people liking to make a profit off others, we try to discourage this but it happens. This is why you want to make friends with experience and review your purchases with those experienced members before taking the plunge!

Many of the chips here have been traded before, many several times, so if you spend a little time doing reserch you can basically figure out what market value is. But if you are still concerned, feel free to shoot me a PM anytime, or like I said find people... shoot the crap and make some friendships. My brother Brandon is a deep south chipper that goes by @shorticus on here, I'm sure he would also be willing to give advice if you ever seek any.

Welcome aboard this train or boat ride(scrub donkey 25k chip), there is much to learn, but you have to think of it as an investment, knowing you will keep the set the rest of your life to play with or sell it down the road, for hopefully what you paid for it. I thought these guys were insane when I first joined, but now I just know they are insane chippers @Ben8257 is right though, this is a community of amazing people who generally like to help one another out and are great people to talk to for any advice. I am still learning myself and buying within my means. But it is nice to get some sample chips for sure to get a feel of what you like, because everyone has a different preference and there are a lot of different chip variations.
