Like many, I regularly play with NLHE w a group at .25/..50 blinds. All set there using $0.25 fracs.

Prompted by my pickup of a couple racks of the Lake Elsinore $2 chips, I was wondering if there's any merit to building a set specifically for .50/$1 stakes. Is it as simple as chopping all standard denom's essentially cut in half.

Typical Demoninations for 1/2:

$1 / $5 / $25 / $100

Potential Denominations for .50/1:

$.50 / $2 / $10 / $50

Anyone experimented with this? I tried to search the forum but couldn't find any relevant results, so figured I'd ask if anyone has pros, cons, or other experiences to share?

Well I don't see a reason why you couldn't play a .50/1 game with the classic $1 / $5 / $25 / $100 denoms but to answer your question:

Yes, I've built a .10/.50/2/10/50 set and I love it.

It's an European thing though since most casinos spread a €2/2 or €2/4 game with the aforementioned breakdown.
It might confuse players from the states who are not used to the denoms. @Thomacetti has some experience with this when he visited my game a few months ago. ;)

Beautiful set @OfficerLovejoy!

I've pondered such a breakdown many times. It would be really nice for a 10 cent/20 cent cash game with a $20 buy in - just pure cash-in efficiency. The part that seems like it would mentally throw players is not having a one and having a two instead, but it can't be THAT hard to figure out at the table.

Waaaay too many bets fall within $2 and $10 to entertain removing $5s.

Just add $2s. It’s fun and will get more chips on the table without having to deal with drunk math pot counts.

Played with .10 / .50 / 2 / 10 for many years and it worked perfectly for $20 buyin mixed games.
Exactly what I'm doing and how this set came to be.
.10/.20 up to .30/.50 works really well.
