As soon as I started naming my new poker room, I quickly found a custom house set was a must based not only on feedback on the forum, but also unprompted from my players.
As the Oaks & Aces Supper Club, nestled amongst over a dozen 300 year old oak trees, I already had a pseudo house set after @Himewad sold a cards mold version of his Nuts chips
While amazing, those squirrel claws just couldn’t scratch the itch of a true house set. So, I picked up some great muted CSQ for a cash set from @BamaT8ter
Next, I started buying up Roman mold blanks for either a hot stamped tourney set or secondary cash set
Then I picked up some really great DIASQR for either the tourney set or a secondary cash set
All of these are still in the works, but funds have been a little tighter with the projects that come with a new house. I don’t have the bankroll I used to for milling and custom labels. I can’t spend my money on frivolous things
But as the great Ian Malcolm once said
ABC Gifts and Awards was clearing out some space and graciously provided a solution.
Fat Hats? Minor leagues. Bask in the glory of 105 mm Big Twigs! (Thick Bricks? I’m still workshopping that a bit.) And no need for milling! The colors are super bright, which is a nice contrast to the more classic colors I have in the other sets.
I may need some more purple chips since I know a lot of you will say “A rack and a half of $5 isn’t nearly enough for any game”, and I’m seeing my own shortsightedness. And at $40/rack shipped, how can I NOT afford to expand the set??
What I need a little help with is feedback on a label. I worked these up over the last couple days. They’re 2” labels which will still show off the cogs on the chips, and leave a bold colored outer ring around the label on the side of the chip without the wide molded inlay.
Should I play with the background color of the label? Do I need to go white labels on everything but the greens? These are the first custom labels I’m starting from scratch, so I’m open to suggestions from those that have done it before.
Now to see if @justincarothers has any storage solutions……
