What’s your preference and why plz octagon/circle or ellipse/oval. Someone plz post pics if you have any, on my phone at the moment!
Do you have pics? I’m curious as to see comparisons between the 8max oval and standard sized. Ty!!I went with an 8max oval table, mainly because of where it’s located in room. With the top on it becomes great for board games too, as some of them require a lot of sideways room. I do like how with octagon/circle tables you are able to really see all the players and stacks better.
That’s a really good point!Oval is best. You can fit more players if you need to, and if you have less players, just don't have people sit on the ends of the oval. Everyone is then basically just as close to each other as they would be on a round table. Therefore, best of both worlds.
I also have an 8-max oval (messy at the moment) which, at 68x48, is kinda close to round. Sorry no pics with people yet, since I still haven’t hosted this year, grumble.Do you have pics? I’m curious as to see comparisons between the 8max oval and standard sized. Ty!!
Mine is more oval than @upNdown ’s table, but no player sits at the very end to slightly compensate. The angle distorts the cup holder places a little.Do you have pics? I’m curious as to see comparisons between the 8max oval and standard sized. Ty!!
Only solution I can think of for you, time to get a bigger house hahaha.Answer depends greatly on your game & space. A large 8 person round or octagon is, IMHO, the perfect table for a social, self dealt cash game. They're comfortable and very easy to deal at from all seats. The two big downsides are (A) it can be a tough reach to drag a pot because the table is so wide and (B) they take up more overall real estate in the room, which can be extra tough to deal with in the NYC area.
For pretty much any other situation, especially if you often have more than 8 players per table, ovals work much better.
I run a mix of tourneys (more so) and cash games, so I have two 10 man oval tables. If I had the room (both while in play and in storage), I would build a big 58" round table for mixed game / cash nights. But you've been to my house, that ain't happening
My 2¢ worth.
