Oil chips with lotion? (1 Viewer)

Hello fellow chippers, I’ve oiled my cc pharaohs micro stakes set twice with mineral oil, it works but hell of a lotta scrubbing, these still dry out and smell a bit. I just figured “what the heck” slapped a tiny dab of lotion on my hands and pretty much oiled my chips..... weeks later... these chippys really soak up the oil and lotion, the pvc smell went away for awhile. I’m still enjoying my racks of greasy looking fracs lol

In all seriousness, I would think that lotion wouldn’t penetrate the surface level as well as mineral oil and the chips would dry out faster. Also that lotion would leave some kind of residue behind possibly.

It might be worth checking the ingredients in the hand lotion you are using. Many contain oils that can go rancid in time, which is a whole different kind of stink than what you removed with your scrubbing.

One of the reasons mineral oil is preferred is lack of fragrance and the fact that it doesn't go rancid.
