Online Poker in Michigan (1 Viewer)

I just don't enjoy the online experience all that much. To be honest I kinda liked the internet shutdown years ago because I think it helped out the home game scene. Yes I would probably play some, but the home game is my one true poker love.

I agree. Plus I'm even worse at online poker than I am live poker lol. I get to distracted online.

I agree but on a sunday, playing 2-3 $10-$50 buyin deep tournies with huge guarantees is fun. if you come out a big winner, awesome, if not, casual way to spend a lazy sunday

I prefer live poker many fold over online poker for a variety of reasons, not the least of which being just hanging out with good friends... However, being able to jump online and play anytime on any given day is awesome! Also, for me, it's the only way I'd have to play games I love like 27T, 27S, Badugi, etc... When casinos spread those they are usually above my bank roll... I have never seen any of those games spread at less than $50/$100 live...

Regardless, I am ALWAYS for freedom of choice...

From one of the top dogs at Amaya on online poker fraud: *12 million+ poker hands dealt daily, average of 9 hands reported or flagged for further investigation. About 15% of those turn out to be faulty... So 1 in 12MM... Not bad...

at the california hearing a few weeks ago someone finally did a tutorial for an offshore illegally operated site, something similar to bovada im pretty sure.

its sad it takes a visual demonstration to show that illegal operators are making a ton of money off US citizens and if they just regulated every market, they could tax it and make money

No question!!

That was actually the opening argument by Senator Kowall today... But it goes beyond the t as the main argument is not on the revenue side but on the customer protection side... Gamblers are gonna gamble, and they can today almost from anywhere, without a shred of protection... So the revenues are flying out of the state (and country) and the customers are being shafted... Double whammy from a regulatory perspective...

Hearing is over... Total of 4 speakers in favor of the bill and 3 neutral to the bill... All high level stuff tbh...

I just SMH when the biggest impediment for the bill to be approved is that taxes from the casinos amount to almost 20% of Detroit's revenue (I'm surprised it's not more ;))... Per the bankruptcy docs it seems there's some words tying the Sates hands in doing anything to jeopardize that revenue... There's also some constitutional (Sate) issues to be dealt with as it calls for popular vote for gambling activities approval, although it's vague whether it would also apply to online gambling...

pretty simple fix, do what NJ did, have all online licenses tied to a brick and mortar casino.

That's not a bad thing, you have to learn to embrace the distraction. Play ABC on multiple tables while sitting around watching a movie... you'll never get impatient, zero frustration when you're getting unplayable cards, etc. You quickly learn to not be at home playing poker with other things going on in the background, you're at home doing other things with poker going on in the background. Home games will always be leaps and bounds better naturally but I can't express how much I miss PokerStars :(

Yep, not only NJ but Nevada and Delaware do the same as well...

I think it's a matter for time and I'm glad Michigan is trying to speed up the process...

Finally, a good enough reason to consider moving back to Michigan.

Unless the winter still lasts more than a week - then I'm staying in the south.

Bovada...I lost my ass about a week and a half ago.

full boats busted 3 times in one sitting by quads...every effin time the guy had pockets.

Every damn time the thought went through my head and this nagging sumbitch voice rang in...nah no way...no way he's got quads.

Literally my exact thought. Didn't think anything could draw me back to Detroit, but...
