Tourney Optimal number of starting players for NLHE tourney (single table) (1 Viewer)

What do you guys think would be the best number of starting players for a tourney with:

• A single table
  
• T10,000 starting stacks
• 25/50 starting blinds (starting stack = 200X BB)
• Self dealt game, rotating dealer

Trick question. NLHE tournaments suck.

It depends. For a HU tourney I prefer 2 players per table. For 6 max tourney I prefer 6 players per table, 8 max....

For one table as many as will fit around would be the maximum and as many turn up would be the minimum. Having more players has the added advantage of having more people to talk into a cash game afterwards, which is the only reason I like having a single table tournament anyway

I don't think it matters that much. The biggest consideration for a SNG is the ending prize pool. IMO the best part about home game SNGs is that you get a bunch of friends together to play some cards and drink some beer. I would play with any number > 6 purely from a prize money perspective. Anything less than that and I think you are better off playing a cash game. When I run SNGs I invite a bunch of people and play with who ever can turn up if I get 11 or more players I play two or more tables.
