Masking and using an air brush is the best way to do it. Professional counterfeiters have used this method to reconstruct entire chip/spot color combinations (turning a $1 chip into a $100 chip, for example). Very authentic-looking results.

Interesting. I assume someone could make a mold somehow that allows you to air brush 10 chips at a time.
