Ok. My flame suit is on.

Anyone paint edge spots on chips to make them different?

I really like the Roadhouse set but the $500 is very similar to the $100 in a darker room.

Seems like adding a simple edge spot in a bright color would help tremendously without having to change out the inlay, etc.

I get it, not a purist move, but these chips are pretty inexpensive and seems like a good solution for my issue.

In addition, you might even consider it a security measure?

Let me know your thoughts...

I think I started a thread on this a while back and people had good points about the stacks being weird because the paint would add height in certain spots.

Do you have any dirty stack pictures? It seems like $100 and $500 chips are always at risk of having a certain level of confusion. It seems like a lot of work, as mentioned elsewhere in this thread, a better solution may be to relabel another $500 or $100 chip.

See, I was thinking just using a paint pen and throwing some stripes on.

Seem to me that due to current pattern, it would be pretty simple and complementary.

Please, no "side paint" jokes. We've had enough of that already.

Try it and see. I'm not sure if it would look good. Many people would just consider it chip vandalism, although to be honest it is not morally different from altering chips in other ways like milling, or label removal, or what have you. I think you might find some issues of paint wear and then possible colour transfer onto other chips in contact, which might not be a good thing.

It may ruin resale value, but they're your chips, so do what you want. I actually like the look of the markup above, with what looks close to the Paulson "Arc Yellow" color. Whether or not it'll look that good in real life, and whether or not it will rub off or peel off after time is another question.

There are fluorescent yellow and orange paint markers at art stores -- this brand has both a 2mm and 15mm size pen point.

The Paulson "Arc Yellow" color might fall somewhere in-between standard fluorescent yellow and orange hues for markers & paint, though.

Just keep in mind that the paint will look bad as it wears off. You could possibly keep touching them up though. I would sell and buy something that doesn't need to be marked up.

Since hot stamping is pretty dead, some people experimented with ink stamps a while back. I don't remember favorable results.

I’ve thought of taking masking tape to a barrel of solid chips, leaving a spot sized pinstripe exposed and using dye or sharpie on the sides of the chips, a little might bleed onto the face but I bet it would look natural in a way.

I’ve never done it but I’ve thought about it. :)

I just played with these not too long ago, and people repeatedly kept mixing the two up.

I’m definitely not the the one to ask, but if you end up not telling a difference with stack size and such, I absolutely love this idea.

I have 500 or 600 snappers so I thinking about relabeling those into 500s also since $2.50 and $500 would never be played at the same time.

i had some i did the same thing with.

highly recondmend a really good OIL based paint pen. acrylic will wear relative fast and it will scrap off upon shuffling! oil works wonders and so far in 20-30 games no difference in stack height. off course this is on .50cent roulette mold chips but same premise i guess LOL
Sounds interesting. Do you have any pictures of the chips you can share? Thanks
