Just got these off of eBay. At the risk of one of you degens sniping it, I bought it first. Did I hit pay dirt here with plastic, or are these paper? I've never seen Piatniks with this back pattern before.

I'd have to guess paper, just because like you, I've never seen those backs. But I'll hope for plastic along with you.

I would have to say that those are paper. The plastic only came in a couple of different back styles in both poker and bridge size. Piatnik has tons of different back styles but they are all paper. I’ll have to check my dealers catalog when I get home.

Bummer. I figured this to be the case but I have actually never seen paper cards sold in two deck set ups like these were. I'll report back in a few weeks when I get them, but I can't say it looks promising.

Also, you never know what you're getting from eBay. I bought a fournier setup with unique backs once, because they were in Congress packaging (and setup box,) saying that they were plastic. When I received them, they were factory sealed paper cards which somebody had just stuck in the plastic packaging. I got a refund, and after communicating with the seller, I think it was an honest mistake; I believe they received the cards that way. This is not to say I'd excuse them 100% - I think if you're selling something, you should have enough knowledge of the product to know what you're selling. There are people who routinely sell stuff here without knowing what they're selling. But I digress.

I got home and finally looked at the pic from eBay. I do not think Piatnik ever sold their decks in the case they are sending you the cards in. All I have see come wrapped in a paper box. The Bridge size plastic do come in a plastic box but the box is hard clear plastic with a black top with gold type. Those appear to be bridge sized cards and the style is what they call Opti.

Late to the party but these are indeed Opti's...fwiw, some of the nicest paper decks out there (like @surfik mentioned)
And can only echo what @David O posted regarding plastic Piatnik cards...and believe me I did my research (these were long my nr 1 decks) and still like 'm a lot. And it's indeed not an OEM case.

And feel free to reach out to the card crew before pulling the trigger...I don't see anyone sniping nice decks in that small group (except Surfik with non warped KEM's ;) :ROFLMAO: )

And Trefl wisegue...

I long time ago bought lots of bridge size jumbo Kem from some casino employee
No warping whatsoever...
Makes me believe that casino KEMs are better quality...

Nowedays I go for Trefl. First they Polish, secondly best quality per dollar, thirdly easy to buy in my neck of woods

Part 2. Let's play again. Box looks sealed and says it's plastic, but I've never seen these WSOP Copags. Has anyone else?

Never seen this edition but companies involved in WSOP print some decks featuring WSOP logo that never been played during that event. I know for the fact Modiano did some years ago, some PVC some acetate (same stock as Platinum).

I agree with @surfik...have not seen these before but they are for sure no decks used during WSOP.
So presume these are retail set-ups printed in one of the years when they were allowed to use the logo for non tourney cards.

Cool set-up from collectors point

Takes dedication to even fake the box, unless it's a Photoshop job. Looks legit...

If it's not real, the faker would risk legal action from both @desjgn and WPT and the wrath of PCF... I'd be most afraid of the last one!

Most definitely.

Gut is leaning towards legitimate though. The guy selling this on eBay has almost 10k feedbacks with 99.9% being good feedback.

I'll most definitely out him and demand a refund from eBay if this is a counterfeit.

I belive that might be short run made by Jason on WPT request..
Only he can tell for sure

I really hope not. If this is the case, we have more problems than me being out $23...
Ok sorry for the delay in confirming this particular set @JMC9389. It is legit as back in 2011 the amateur poker league for the WPT had a production run of Desjgns done for them. This was a one off production as far as I know. I know in my collection stash somewhere I have a set of these.
